Visual Literacy Questions

1. After you’ve completed your first-string pull, what does the design on your paper
remind you of?
a. The only thing that I saw was an abstract line piece of art. I tried to find
something else within the picture but struggled.
2. After your second-string pull, what does the design remind you of?
a. It really reminded me of an abstract flower. The yellow line really makes it look
like the inside of a flower.
3. What elements and principles do you see in this piece so far and how are they
affecting it?
a. I used contrasting colors: purple and yellow. The purple against the yellow helps
the yellow stand out. Movement also plays its part in this piece. You can see the
movement of how the string affected the color that smeared as you took the
string out. The other element is line. You see curved lines from where the string
is being pulled into the center of the piece.
4. What did you add and why?
a. I did not add anything to my artwork. I loved how it turned out and feared that
adding something would ruin how it looks. I did say that I could have added the
Vikings logo as the yellow and purple are their colors!
