Steps to becoming a Member of the York Rifle Range

1. All applicants must be sponsored by a current Life Member or a Senior

Member that has been a member for more than one year. There are no
exceptions to this step.

2. The Sponsoring Member is required to attend the Pre-Membership meeting

with the person(s) that they are sponsoring. Pre-membership meetings are
held before the Monthly Club meeting held the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

3. The Sponsoring Member is required to take the prospective member on a

Club tour of all ranges and explain the Safe and proper use of each range.
Sponsoring Member should also explain how to pay for targets, drinks and
eats.

3. After the Club tour is completed, the sponsoring member should obtain a
waiting list application for the prospective member. The form should be filled
out COMPLETELY and submitted as per the instructions printed on the back of
the form.

4. Applicant will be put on the Waiting List in the order the waiting list
application is received. A waiting list is posted in the clubhouse on online at
www.yorkriflemen.org and is updated as needed, normally monthly. Relatives
of Current Members are promoted to the top of the waiting list. Relatives are

5. Applicants will be contacted using the information on the waiting list

application and invited to attend a Pre-Membership meeting when their name
comes up for membership. PREFFERED contact information is a valid email
address that is accessed at least once every 2 weeks. Applicants AND the
SPONSORING MEMBER should plan to attend a Pre-membership meeting
prior to the start of a monthly club meeting. Pre-membership meetings are
held on the second Tuesday of the month and start at 6:45pm while Senior
Memberships are available. The Applicant is responsible for contacting the
Current member that is sponsoring them to arrange mandatory attendance
with them to the pre-membership meeting. No reply to the invitation will result
in the applicant being removed from the waiting list.

6. Once the applicant has been invited to attend a Pre-membership meeting,

they should obtain a PATCH, (Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History),
report. The PATCH report can be obtained online normally within 2 to 4 weeks
if requested thru the Pennsylvania State Police web site. DO NOT REQUEST
the PATCH report when you submit your waiting list application. The PATCH
report must be dated within 3 months of the applicant’s attendance to the

Police website and a Helpdesk phone number will be included in the Invitation
email sent to the prospective member.
