A Literature Review Covid 19 Impact On Student Academic Studies by Moses Yamsob 20211.
ABSTRACT
COVID-19 pandemic has brought difficult situations for citizens of nations across the world.
The impact however, may be more severe for others in the Third World Countries, who are in
desperate situations and whose conditions may well further deteriorate if not put into
considerations. To understand the impact on student academic studies, I further consult
different relevant sources of important journal, article and notes from the internet website. In
my finding, there were most similar journal with significant contents in it, which I used to
support the review bellow.

As the world countries working along the clock to contain the deadly invasion of so-called
Corona virus (Covid 19). Many researcher, scholars, and academics have researched and
written about Corona virus impact on education in school perspective. Its effects and impacts
on the lives of student and staff of different levels, age groups, social standing, wellbeing and
so forth. Their research and journal were all important and significant with different definitions
and point of view about the Corona virus and its impact on students on their research result and
survey. As we, all know that the world is a very complex and diverse place where different
people with different ideas, opinions and mentalities with different cultures and traditions
inhabit and live in. and so for that reason, different people think differently from diverse
perspectives.
According to ABC News (March 7, 2020) reported that closures of schools have occurred in
almost all countries due to the COVID-19 outbreak which shock parents and student. The
UNESCO also states that this corona pandemic threatens 577 million students in the world.
The most likely recipe to this would lowered G.P.A grade scored by every student in which

way student affected by. Therefore, the government must present alternative educational
processes to replace face-to-face interaction in a regular class.
According to the journal by Brookings (2020) explorative interview, they raised alarmed that
as a result covid 19 pandemic measures in school it would most likely create the larger gap
between high- and low-achieving students. By doing, so they raised a question of, what sort of
learning losses could we expect from the shortened school year? Due to uniqueness of the
circumstances of covid 19 pandemic, answering of this question is complicated.
Furthermore, to suit into our perspective according to journal article Mohamed (2021) the
impact however, may be more severe for others in the Third World Countries, who are in
desperate situations and whose conditions may well further deteriorate their study and
academic performance in general.
Although some researchers discuss and critics the impact of student performance, there are
others who support the measure. The world university article (2019) support Maximize online
learning which the article refer to as the most effective tool in keeping student retention and
maintaining access to learning online courses. The article further urge that administrators
should undertake simple measures to prevent the spread of the disease on their campuses. This
should include instructing students on the appropriate protocols for hand washing, covering
sneezes and coughs with their elbows, and self-isolating if they are experiencing flu or cold-
like symptoms.
Article further more emphasized administrator should analyses the steps already taken by other
educators to understand what has worked, what hasn’t worked and how to tackle the challenges
they may face. With the spread of the disease expected to worsen before it gets better,
administrators should take quick action to safeguard their campuses and students in preparation
for potential closures.

As we know, the world we live in it is a very diverse place where different people from different
places, environments and societies learn to interact and live with each other. Consequently,
view, opinions, ideas and approaches about of the above people were different. However, as I
virtually read and see all of them, they are from developed nation. That’s the gap in these
literature review.
In contrast to the above mention points, I as the student in third world country of Papua New
Guinea for instance, in University of Goroka experience thought the measure of online class,
no face-to-face class and other measure would degrade our performance academically. Because
we do not have much excess to what would be consider conducive for learning and by the way,
here in the school like this we afford everything by cash to get good grades for instance printing
cost, internet research and everything. We all depend on our family back in the village or
wherever they live due to lockdown restriction would prevent them from earning and engage
in supporting us.
To conclude, the world we live in it is a very diverse place where different people from different
places, environments and societies learn to interact and live with each other. Therefore, this
research will identify corona virus impact on the students in their academic study. In addition,
in response it provide feedback of the measure administration could look in our perspective
and develop countries perspective. Then it would enable us to adapt a good way to address the
rising issue of the students at the University of Goroka, Papua New Guinea and the approach
to rising covid issue whether it is differently or just the same as the rest of the world.
