Topic 1 Reflection
Significant Leadership Experience

Throughout this week’s learning experience and professional growth, I was able to

discuss an internship plan with my principal mentor that will benefit my leadership opportunities

and broaden my understanding for inexperienced areas that are also of importance. I was able to

focus my efforts this week on providing effective open-ended questioning techniques during

virtual parent teacher conferences, which allowed me to see how parents were understanding

their child’s educational needs.

Connection to ELCC Standards

Implementing and reflecting on these techniques connected with ELCC standard five.

Promoting the success of every student academically and socially shows that not only am I

providing a diverse learning environment, but that this idea is also being mirrored through the

parent’s point of view (National Policy Board for Educational Administration, 2015). This can

be seen through their child’s school work, conversations they have at home and from reaction’s

students have about their learning on a daily basis.

Reflection and Application

When looking at next weeks objectives, it will be insightful in interviewing a school and

community leader to see what their personal leadership philosophies are. I look forward to

comparing their similarities and finding the differences in how they lead others. This experience

will allow me to blend multiple philosophies together, so I can devise one that suits my

leadership, character and style.
