    The student conducted two field studies to explore biomass pyramids. In the first study at a limestone site, the observed biomass pyramid was conventional rather than the hypothesized square pyramid. The observed adult catfish biomass and numbers were much higher than estimated. In the second study, algal biomass was measured at two sites and found to be inversely related to canopy openness as hypothesized, supporting the light availability hypothesis. The number of adult catfish was higher at the site with more algae.
