Ed 107 – Technology for Teaching and Learning 1

Second Semester; AY 2020-2021

Assignment #1
Imagine a classroom in the year 2050. Describe and explain briefly what the
classroom looks like. Provide support for your answer. Some things to consider:
• What does the classroom space look like? Consider its shape and size.
• What kind of furniture and resources are in this space?
• Who is involved in teaching? What are they doing?
• How are students learning?
• What kind of technology is being used and how?

Considering what we have right now in our present year, imagining a classroom in the year 2050
made me think of a lot of things that I never thought of before when I was little. With the technology
evolving time after time and the innovation in so many fields it causes, I came to think of a classroom that
could hold double of its usual limit. Everything will be technology and digitally-based from the moment
you stepped in of the room, right after you seat, and even when it’s time to leave. Attendance could be in
a face-recognition type so that it’ll be easier both for the teacher and the student to know if they’re in the
right room or not.
In terms of furniture and resources, I am thinking of students using tables with built-in
transparent digital screens that work as a tablet or smart phone, like the one being used by Iron Man,
wherein all their data, lectures, and activities are kept. I am also seeing big screens and lots of camera in
one room so the teacher can manage and see his students very well and for the students to learn better.
Involved in teaching are students and teachers, and AI’s to help and assist them. It’ll be like the
usual teaching but everyone would be more engaged and will be able to reach one another, easier this
time because of the use of ICT. Students would be able to learn more and even better as they will
experience learning more actively. The types of technology that I think we will be using in the year 2050
will be mechanical, electronics, and communications combined. Also, to think that there’s still a
pandemic, I can imagine a classroom set-up with less or limited to no physical contact between teachers
and students.
