Grade 7 Third Grading Lesson Plan Similarities and Differences
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 45 minute-class discussion, the students will be able to:
a. illustrate how contrast and compare can be used to identify similarities and
differences;
b. encourage everyone to respect individual’s unique characteristics; and
c. perform designated and planned tasks.
B. Materials
visual aids, Manila paper, markers, pictures
IV. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary
Students’ attendance will be checked first.
B. Motivation
The class will be divided into 5-6 small groups (depending on class’
attendance). Each of the small groups will be given a manila paper and a
marker. The groups must assign a group leader, a secretary and a
reporter. Using the Manila paper and the marker, each of the groups will
have to draw a large flower on the center and an equal amount of petals to
the number of members in the group. The students will have to fill in the
center of the flower with something all of the members have in common.
Each of the members will have to write their unique characteristics in one
of the petals. Students must be reminded to refrain from writing physical
attributes. After 10 minutes, all the groups will present their work.
D. Drills
Two pictures will be presented in the class. On a ½ crosswise paper, the
students will have to create five sentences of each stating a comparison
and a contrast.
V. ASSIGNMENT
The students will have to perform Task 5.4: Title-Pair-Talk found on the
Learner’s Manual page 304
