IV. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary
Students’ attendance will be checked first.

B. Motivation
The class will be divided into 5-6 small groups (depending on class’
attendance). Each of the small groups will be given a manila paper and a
marker. The groups must assign a group leader, a secretary and a
reporter. Using the Manila paper and the marker, each of the groups will
have to draw a large flower on the center and an equal amount of petals to
the number of members in the group. The students will have to fill in the
center of the flower with something all of the members have in common.
Each of the members will have to write their unique characteristics in one
of the petals. Students must be reminded to refrain from writing physical
attributes. After 10 minutes, all the groups will present their work.

C. Teacher Modelling and Guided Practice

After the activity, the students will be asked on how they have identified
their similarities and differences. After which, the lesson on making
comparison and contrast will be presented. To compare is to tell how two
things are alike and to contrast is to tell how two things are different.
Based from the previous outputs, students will have to give examples of
sentences that shows comparing and contrasting.

D. Drills
Two pictures will be presented in the class. On a ½ crosswise paper, the
students will have to create five sentences of each stating a comparison
and a contrast.

V. ASSIGNMENT
