Levels Of Communications

Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one


place, person or group to another. Every communication involves (at least)
one sender, a message and a recipient. ... These include our emotions, the
cultural situation, the medium used to communicate, and even our location.

Levels Of Communications

Extrapersonal communication

Extra Personal Communication is that way of communication in which a


human interacts with other species. Communication between human
beings and non-human entities is extra personal communication. Extra

For e.g. your parrot responding your greeting.

In this type of communication understanding is required between sender

and receiver.
Receiver responds in sign language.

Intrapersonal communication

Intrapersonal communication can be defined as communication with one's


self, and that may include self-talk, acts of imagination and visualization,
and even recall and memory.

Intrapersonal communication

This takes place within the individual.

Sender = our relevant organ.

Receiver = our brain.

Feed back by brain.

Intrapersonal communication

Communication at this level refers to the sharing of information among

people

Intrapersonal communication can be formal or informal.

For e.g. the interaction with family members, friends and different kind of

people.

Example of intrapersonal communication

Intrapersonal communication is communication with ourselves that takes


place in our heads. Intrapersonal communication serves several social
functions. ... For example, a person may use self-talk to calm himself down
in a stressful situation, or a shy person may remind herself to smile during
a social event.

Interpersonal communication

Interpersonal communication is the process of exchange of information,


ideas and feelings between two or more people through verbal or non-
verbal methods. It often includes face-to-face exchange of information, in a
form of voice, facial expressions, body language and gestures.

Organizational communication

Organizational communication is a broad field that encompasses all forms


of communication that allow organizations such as companies, government
agencies, and non-profits to function, grow, connect with stakeholders, and
contribute to society.

There are four types of organizational communication:

Formal and informal communication.

Directional communication.

Internal and external communication.

Oral and written communication.

Personal

All communication in an organization without purpose is called personal

communication.

Mass communication

Mass communication is the process of imparting and exchanging


information through mass media to large segments of the population. It is
usually understood for relating to various forms of media, as these
technologies are used for the dissemination of information, of which
journalism and advertising are part.

Communication through mass media like books, journals, TV, newspapers

etc.

For this kind of communication we require a mediator to transmit

information.

Characteristics

Large reach

This communication reach audience scattered over a wide geographical


area.

Impersonality

Largely impersonal as the participants are unknown to each other.

Presence of a gatekeeper.
