Attendance Rate of Online Courses Decreased

Introduction: Our group has raised questions about online classes to the professor, such as student
attendance. The student attendance rate of online courses is lower than that of regular courses. The
new coronary virus is still raging “The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world.
Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom”. Because it is impossible to study normally
on campus, most students choose online courses. However, online courses cannot guarantee student
attendance “Assignment completion varied by learning environment, too. Teachers who were fully
in-person said that 82 percent of their students turned in most or all of their work, compared to
teachers who were fully remote, who said that only 62 percent of their students did the same”.

Method: We conducted a questionnaire to the professors of the school. Questions in the

questionnaire are How have you adjusted to online teaching? What are the challenges you have
encountered in online teaching? How do you address diversity and inclusion in online courses?
What are the challenges of addressing inclusion and diversity in online courses? Why is it important
to address diversity and inclusion in online courses? What have you learned about online teaching
during the pandemic?

Results: We received feedback from five professors. One professor thinks that online teaching is not an
issue , and one thinks that online teaching is unbearable. The remaining three professors think
that online teaching is an issue.

Conclusion: Our group got feedback from the professor, and then we summarized the feedback. Many professor having
issues on making students participate during the class and interact with them during zoom meetings “The hardest part is
not seeing my students” because of technical issues, Students don't show up to meetings and students keep their
cameras off. For these reasons, it's difficult for professors to help students get engaged with the class.
