Experiment No.9

Aim: To deploy storage as a service using OwnCloud.

Output:
1. Download the Appliance
The virtual appliance files are around 1.4GB in size, so may take some time,
depending on your network bandwidth. You can also download it from the
owncloud.org page.

1. Go to Owncloud.org websites download page.


2. Download the OwnCloud Virtual appliance image according to your Virtual Machine
software. Like here, in this tutorial we are using the Virtualbox, so we download the
Virtualbox image.
3. After downloading the image, go to file menu on VirtualBox.

4. Click on the Import Appliance option.


5. Now click on the file browser button and select the downloaded Virtualbox OVA
image. Click on the Next button.

6. After importing, if you want to change any appliance settings such network and
storage. Then click on the Import button.

7. Once the importing is complete, the Owncloud virtual will be shown on the left side
panel in the powered off mode. To start it just double click on it.

8. To access the ownCloud web interface, open a web browser and navigate to the
servers IP address as shown below

9. Own Cloud portal has two types of users like Admin user and local user. The admin
user can create users/groups, assigns storage quota, assigns privileges and can manage
users and group activities.

10. The local user is an restricted user who can perform local activities like upload or
share files, delete local shares or can create share etc.
