LESSON PLAN IN MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY

LEARNING COMPETENCY:

Put into practice their understanding of the intellectual property, copy


right, and fair use guidelines.
1.OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:

a) explain the intellectual property, copyright and fair use guidelines.


b) differentiate the legal, Ethical issues in Media.
c) value the importance of legal, Ethical and societal issues in Media.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

• Topic : Legal, Ethical and Societal issues in Media and Information


• a. Copy Right/Fair Use/Plagiarism
• References : Cronica BookHaus,2016 by; Mark N. Abadiano, Ph.D
Internet - (www.google.com)
• Materials : Laptop, LCD Projector, Bond paper
III. PROCEDURES:
Preliminary Activities:
Opening Prayer
Checking of Attendance
Short Exercise(Zumba)
Review of the previous lesson
 
Lesson Proper :
A.) Activity
“Coptivity”
Directions:
1. Let the learners to copy whatever written on the flash screen for 15 seconds
only. (5X). Each learner is provided one whole sheet of bond paper.
 
B.) Analysis
Guide questions:
How do you find in writing with time limit? Was it easy to copy articles quickly ?
Are you satisfied with your performance in writing? Why?
How does your hands react? Did you feel good in yourself after writing quickly? Do you
find any reason why your were copying? What is your insights or learnings on this
activity?
 The teacher process the answers of learners that would lead them to the new
lesson.

C.) Abstraction
“Paper Cabbage Relay”
Directions:
The whole class will be formed a semi- circle. The Students will be given set
questions through paper cabbage relay. Then let them pass the paper cabbage in a
counter clockwise while listening the music . When the music stops , the one who
receives the paper cabbage, he/she will read the question and answer it immediately
(own ideas or from their written output during the first activity).
What is copyright?
What is Plagiarism?
What is Fair Use?
What is Intellectual Property?
What is the difference between legal and ethical issues?
 As Senior High School student, how can you avoid plagiarism, especially in
your work at school?
 Do you have any idea, what is our lesson for this session?

D.) Application
“Act and Move Activity”
- The students are divided in 5 groups.
- Each group demonstrates any Legal and Ethical issues in Media.
- Each group will be given 10 minutes to create their own
presentation and 3 minutes presentation.
- The rubric will measures the performance of each group.
 
 
IV. ASSESSMENT:
 Quiz: 1/2 Sheet of Paper
1. Give at least 5 examples of Intellectual Property.
2. Explain briefly, the right to claim authorship of the work, and the right to
object to any distortion, mutilation or modification of the work.(15 pts.) 

 
V. ASSIGNMENT:
 Let each group to make a Pledge of Commitment to follow the legal and
Ethical issues in Media.
