4G Internet In J&K: The relaxation won't be in any territory connecting the International Border

or the Line of Control, the centre told the apex court. The regions which will get the 4Ginternet
will be those which have a low terrorist activities, the centre said.

New Delhi:

4G internet providers will be permitted on a preliminary basis in one area each in Jammu and
one in the Kashmir valley after August 15, the centre told the Supreme Court today, including
that a special board or board has settled on this decision.

The relaxation won't be in any region connecting the International Border or the Line of
Control, the inside told the top court. The regions which will get the 4G web will be those which
have a low terrorist activites, the centre said.

The centre will probe the circumstance following two months, it said.

High-speed Internet service in Jammu and Kashmir has been suspended since longer than a
year when the centre scarpped Jammu and Kashmir's exceptional status under Article 370 and
it into two association regions - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Attorney General KK Venugopal speaking to the centre offered the expressions on


reestablishing 4G on a preliminary basis. The Attorney General said the internet limitations are
not causing any obstacle to coronavirus care, education or business in the union
region/territory and that given the current security situation, the circumstance isn't yet helpful
for reestablishing high-speed internet access to cell phones.

On Friday, the Supreme Court had asked the Jammu and Kashmir admins to investigate the
chance of reestablishing 4G services in specific territories. A three-judge bench of Justices NV
Ramana, R Subhash Reddy and BR Gavai heard the case today through video conferencing.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration looked for time to take directions on the reclamation of
high-speed internet access, saying Lieutenant Governor that has been appointed newly in the
union territory region.

Manoj Sinha has been named the new Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir after GC Murmu left
the post.

The GC Murmu-drove J&K administration has confronted controversies over its restriction to
reestablish 4G internet providers in Jammu and Kashmir. It has refered to expanded terrorists
activities as the purpose for its move in the Supreme Court because of petitions looking for
rebuilding of high-speed internet.

A NGO called Foundation for Media Professionals had moved toward the Supreme Court for
contempt activity against the Jammu and Kashmir administration and the centre for not
actualizing the top court's orders in reestablishing 4G internet providers.
