Within the TAB studio students learn

Observe: Looking carefully

ideas/feelings/meanings

solving skills and develop a focus.
Envision: Think about the next
possible steps in your work
Stretch and Explore: Learn from
mistakes and try something new!

Colorado Academic
Standards:
The studio process can touch on any
number of the Colorado Academic
Standards depending on what a
student is working on and what grade
level is in the studio.
Some prominent standards in most
TAB settings are Standard 2.
Envision and Critique to Reflect, and
Standard 3. Invent and Discover to
Create
Students working within the TAB
studio work at their own pace to
practice the Studio habits and fulfil
the academic standards through their
art making.
Instructors within the TAB classroom
often aid students in their
development by introducing “skill
building” which helps student
studio.
Assessments
Within the studio process students
write plans for their projects, consult
with their teacher, execute the project
and then write a reflective artist
statement.
This process lends itself to constant
assessment throughout the students
projects as the teacher has a
structured place within the process to
consult with the students.
The artist statements students write
are a large part of their final
assessments. At the end of the year
the students create a graph of their
different graded artist statements to
see their individual progress
throughout the year.
