What Is Stress?
“Everybody experiences stress. It is the
body’s natural reaction to tension,
pressure and change. A certain amount
of stress is good because it can make life
challenging and less boring. However,
too much stress can be bad for you both
mentally and physically. It is important
to recognize the signs of stress before it
becomes a problem for you.”

In this exercise, we will spend about 3 minutes focusing our attention
on the experience of breathing.

To prepare, please turn off any alarms, ringers, notifications, etc. to


limit potential for distraction.

If it feels unhelpful or uncomfortable for you in any way, feel free to


sit the exercise out.
Mindfulness Activity
If you are experiencing a respiratory illness or condition of some kind,
focusing on the breath might be uncomfortable or bring up feelings
of worry or fear.

If you prefer not to use the breath during this exercise, try focusing on
sounds instead
