1. What is a project’s infrastructure?


The project charter describes all the people, resources, technology, methods, project
management processes, and areas of knowledge required to support the project. In short, a
project charter will detail everything needed to carry out the project.
2. What is the purpose of organizational governance?
The purpose of organizational governance is to manage significant risks from the
organization in order to increase the long-term shareholder value of investment and fulfill its
business objectives by safeguarding the company's assets.
3. What is project governance? What is its purpose?
Project governance is a management framework in which project decisions are made to
determine future steps. Project governance is an important element needed in every
project, because the accountability and responsibility associated with business activities as
usual organizations are defined in their organizational governance arrangements; There is
seldom a comparable framework for regulating the development of its capital investment
(projects). The objective of project governance is to establish strategic direction and to guide
performance, for public companies.
4. What is a project management office (PMO)? What purpose does it serve?
A division or department in an organization that determines and maintains standards in
project management in the organization. The main objective of establishing PMO is to get
maximum benefit by disciplining and standardizing a project according to certain
regulations, processes and methods. And the objective including centralization of data
throughout the project is to improve the same understanding of all aspects of the project
and the decision-making process better and faster.
5. What is the purpose of a project governance committee? Who should be on this committee?
The objectives of the project governance committee are to verify and check the Project
Charter for accuracy and compliance with the Business Case, Review and verify changes
made to the Business Case, Monitor progress against the project management plan, etc. For
a committee of directors there must be in this case because the committee provides an
operational direction. And this supervisory board has the responsibility for managing and
dealing with business issues, monitoring risk, quality, and project schedule.
6. Why is it important that a project governance framework define stakeholders’ authority?
Because the committee should include key individuals from the client and implementation
partners and should meet regularly for updates or evaluations from the project manager and
a good time of evaluation is preferably monthly.
7. Why is it important that a project governance committee have oversight over a project?
Because in order to ascertain whether a proper review of the problem has been carried out
and who will be the main contact in addressing and also agreeing on any deviation in project
requirements. This project governance provides decision-making metrics, direction and
establishes procedures for validating what impact this has on the project.
8. Describe some common responsibilities of a project manager.
Project managers (PMs) are responsible for designing, directing the project process, and
managing the completion of specific projects for an organization while ensuring these
projects are on time, within budget, and within scope.
9. What are some important attributes of a good project manager?
• The ability to communicate people
• The ability to deal with people
• The ability to create ans sustain realtionships
• The ability to organize
10. What types of skills or knowledge should a project manager consider when selecting a
project team member?
• Technology skills
• Business/organization knowledge
• Interpersonal skills
11. Why are projects dependent on the host or sponsoring organization?
Because the project has a dependency on sponsors to achieve effective results such as:
providing assistance to the project manager and the team as well, and gaining expertise
from the project's experience.
12. Describe the functional organization. How does the functional organization influence the
selection of a project manager and access to resources?
Functional organization can also be referred to as a formation of a more traditional
organization.
13. What are some advantages and disadvantages of projects hosted by a functional
organization?
Advantages: Breadth and depth of knowledge and experience, Less duplication, and
Increased flexibility
Disadvantages: Poor integration, Poor response time, and Determining authority and
responsibility
14. Describe the project-based organization. How does the project-based organization influence
the selection of a project manager and access to resources?
A project based organization (PBO) according to Davies and Hobday where the project is the
main unit in carrying out certain tasks. In particular, service firms, for example engineering
providers, film studios, consultants, law firms, marketing and advertising, are somewhat
organized around projects.
15. What are some advantages and disadvantages of projects hosted by a project-based
organization?
Advantages: The whole team is focused on the team’s goals, so conflict of loyalty exists with
the day job for the people working on the project and their daily job is the project. And from
the teams we can have a strong sense of identity which is the easiest structure within which
to create a strong team culture.
Disadvantages: having a team dedicated to a single project is an expensive commitment.
This tends to be an option only on large projects because it is very costly.
16. Describe the matrix organization. How does a project hosted by a matrix organization
influence the selection of a project manager and access to resources?
Matrix organization is defined as an organization which has two or more managerial
accountabilities and responsibilities. However, the term matrix means very different things
to different people and in different industries.
17. What are some advantages and disadvantages of projects hosted by a matrix organization?
Advantages: You can do a lot of different things, sometimes in parallel though this can also
be considered a disadvantage as it can count as a waste of time. And resources are used that
can be used efficiently and can move between projects as needed and depending on project
conditions.
Disadvantages: Other projects may have restricted the best resources to the most
appropriate people with the right skills or their line manager may not have made them
available for project work.
18. What is outsourcing?
Outsourcing is the practice of a business in doing work for parties outside the company to
perform services and make goods that are traditionally done at home by employees and
staff of the company itself.
19. What is business process outsourcing?
Business process outsourcing (BPO) is a method of subcontracting various business-related
operations to third-party vendors for the right and best supply of resources.
20. What is offshoring or offshore outsourcing?
Offshoring is often given input from outside parties because when a job is transferred to
another country, it can be very beneficial for the company and can ultimately improve the
economy in both countries.
21. What is meant by full insourcing?

Project resources are acquired and used internally and the project team has responsibility
for all project processes and project delivery that have been carried out.

22. What is meant by full outsourcing?

Project resources and processes are the responsibility of the manager to external sources.
