What You Should Know About SIS (cont.)
Finding the right part to order is now a whole lot easier
 “Click and Pick” - Over 2/3 of the part numbers in SIS are hot pointed. Click on the parts list, it highlights and takes
you to the identification number in the graphic. Click on the identification number in the graphic and it takes you to the
part on the parts list. Enter the quantity you want and click on the “add to parts list” button. For a live example click
here.
 “Interactive 3D” - Over 690 3D graphics have been delivered into SIS for new part illustrations created for NPI or
engineering changes. Now you can interact with the graphic (zoom, rotate, explode/pull apart, hide or hover). For a
live example click here.
 “Part names in 8 languages” – In addition to English, SIS user interface language can be set to Chinese, French,
German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. If you have selected one of these languages as your
preference, when you hover over a part name in the parts list it will show up in the language preference you have
selected. For a live example change your language preference from English and go to any parts list.
 “Zero in on the right part” – S/N filtration uses multiple systems and shipment invoices to determine what parts have
been installed on a specific S/N machine or engine. If you want to see all the options, just click to turn off the filtration
and show all options for a specific S/N. For a live example click here.
 “Kits, kits everywhere”- More kits are available for viewing through auto population of kits across engine and machine
builds. Just look for the “view kits” link. For a live example click here.
 “100% Certified” – Looking for certified rebuild parts, over 29,000 have been added. In your preference section click
on “automatically select all parts for Caterpillar Certified Rebuild” and you will see green. All 100% usage certified

are being released with combined system modules so you do not have to work between multiple sources of
information.
 “Specs where you need them, when you need them” – In 2012 for new products Disassembly and Assembly
procedures and Test and Adjust procedures, specification tables have been included upfront for quick look up
and reference as well as in the body of the service information.
 “No specs required” – For new products in 2012, TA2 inspection forms are being created with the specification
requirements already included.

installation of hoses and wiring on select product. The graphics contain full machine geometry and views for various
hydraulic lines, fuel lines and wiring systems with part number identification using cursor flyover.
 “Making big jobs easier” - Enhanced field assembly instructions are now available for the 793F (prefix SSP) mining
truck. The information is delivered in Disassembly & Assembly format and includes improved graphics, parts inventory
