Electrical and Computer Engineering
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Undergraduate curriculum draft modifications after first year common courses are added. Some
courses have been added, modified and removed. The justification for the changes are given
below:
1. Probability and Random Process is changed to Probability and Statistics course
which will be given to all pre-engineering students and it is mandatory for all engineering
students to know the concept of probability and statistics. For the case of random process
it is suggested to be included in Introduction to Communication System syllabus.
2. Object oriented concepts are already discussed in the introduction to computing course
and applied in software engineering course therefore there is no need for repetition.
Instead the latest technology that is used by almost all fields of studies which prepares
students for future careers is included. Hence, the course Object Oriented Programming is
replaced by a new course named: “Artificial Intelligence”.
3. Applied Engineering Mathematics III was a prerequisite for Signal and Systems
Analysis. However, looking at the Applied Engineering Mathematics III and Signal and
Systems Analysis course syllabi, it was found out that the courses can be given together.
4. Hydro power engineering course is removed because of less importance of the course
contents for electrical power engineers. Moreover, the important contents of the course
are supposed to be included in Energy conversion and rural electrification course.
5. Due to the vast content of Power system protection and control course, the course is
modified as Power system protection only moving the control part of the content to a
new course (Power system operation and control)
6. Power System operation and control course is proposed to be included in the
curriculum
7. Since the contents of power system operation are included in the course Power System
operation and control, Power system planning and operation is renamed as Power
system planning and management. Hence the course contents of the three course
should be revised accordingly.
