A Musical Repast – Volume II
Following the popularity of this event last year,
we are pleased to celebrate again the approach
of Mothers' Day with an afternoon of easy
listening Baroque music, accompanied by a
delicious afternoon tea in the intimate
surrounds of The Little Music Room. Our guest
artists, Amelia Monaghan (recorder) and Kat
Stevens (baroque violin), with Lesley Lewis
(harpsichord) will entertain you with musical
morsels by Telemann, Handel, Couperin and
that famous composer, Anonymous!

Saturday October 8 at 3 p.m.
An Equal Voice
Early composers often wrote for two equal
voices and this concert showcases how
beautiful symmetrical vocal writing can be,
with haunting echoes, intertwining melodies
and exquisite blending. Elizabeth and Rachel
McCall, with the distinct yet perfectly blended
voices of two sisters who have spent a life time
singing together, perform music for two
sopranos by Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel and
Mozart with Lesley Lewis, on harpsichord.

Sunday October 30 at 3 p m.
Fandango
By popular request, this concert explores the
stirring dialogue of four hands at two
harpsichords. The programme features the
colourful setting of Luigi Boccherini's popular
“Fandango”, bringing the full flavour of Spanish
musical passions to life. JS Bach's Double
Harpsichord Concerto in C and various sonatas
by Bach’s sons, Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl
Philip Emanuel as well as an improvisation
over a Bass by Bernado Pasquini, make this a
rare concert.
