Dried drug powder (1 adaka) should be


mixed with equal quantity of water and kept
over night. next day it should be rubbed with
fingers and filtered through a fine cloth.

Dose of putapaka swarasa is one phala and


one karsha of bee’s honey can be added.
Kalka churna and drava added in same
quantity as mentioned for swarasa.

Six parts of water are added to the coarse


powder of 1 part of the drug. The mixture is
kept as it is overnight. Then the drug is
macerated well and filtered through a clean
cloth.
Hima kalpana

Synonym-
Sheetha kashaya, cold infusion

should be filtered through a cloth for 21

Aushadha Siddha Yavagu (quatha)
सध्यं चिुष्पतलं द्रव्यं चिुः षस्ष्टपतलेऽम्बुति।

Advantages-

Milk bring down the thikshnathwa of drugs.


Minimize the toxic effect of thikshna dravya.
It masks the un palatability and unwanted
effect of taste in the drug.
Along with medicinal properties nutrition also
added.
Mantha kalpana (Hima/phanta)
जले चिष्ु पतले शीिे षुण्णि ् द्रव्यपतलं क्षषपतेि ्।

1 palam of coarse powder soaked in


sufficient water for 1-2 hours
When powder become soft add 4 palam of
water, crushed well and filtered.

Broken rice must soaked either in 4 or 6 or 8
parts of water and kept for some time. Rice
should be macerated watery part have to be
decantered.

Juice is extracted from acidic fruits and diluted


with cold water and served after adding sugar,
pepper etc.

ि शोष्येत्क्पतुिः क्िाथं िच भूमिगिं पतुिः।


दोष्संशम्ये िैिे प्रशत्क्नगदकिाखण॥
कृष्णं िीलि ् घिि ् रक्िं वपतस्च्िलं मशचथलं च यि ्।
दनधं कुिपतगंधं च विस्रु गंधं वििजायेि ्॥

Decoction should not heat again after preparation.


Well prepared quatha cure diseases
Decoction in Blackish, bluish,viscous,redish picchila
sithila, burned, smell of meat, smell of pus should not
be used.

Kwatha administration after digestion of food in
Arka kalpana

No reference in Ayurveda Classics


But in Arkprakasha by king Ravana
Mainly used in Unani system of medicine.

Method of preparation-
Coarsely powdered drugs have to be used.
Soaked in 2-4 hours in sufficient quantity of water.
The well soaked drug transferred to distillation
apparatus. And 10 parts of water added.
Heated continuously till 60% distillate is collected.
Stored in airtight bottles and kept in dry and cool place.
Arka kalpana

Characteristics of Arka-

Clear and transparent.


Characteristic odour and taste

Dosage-
12-24 ml diluted with water.

hima,phanta,kwatha or arka mixed with
double of sugar and boiled on mild fire.

Saturated viscous sugar preparations
Sweet in taste.
No references in Classics Ayurveda
texts.
