a. Find the moments at supports for the continuous beam shown in figure below. Use CO 1

b. Draw the schematic diagrams for horizontal reaction and normal thrust, radial shear & CO 2
bending moment at a section for two hinged parabolic arch.
c. A suspension bridge of 100 m span has two three hinged stiffening girder supported CO 3
by two cables having central dip 10m. The dead load on bridge is 5 kN/m 2, and live
load is 10 kN/m2 which covers left half of span only. Find SF and BM at 24 m from
left end if road way is 6m wide.
d. Analyze the beam shown in figure by stiffness matrix method. Take EI as constant. CO 4

a. State Muller- Breslau’s principle. Determine the influence line for R a for the CO 2
continuous beam as shown in Figure. Compute I.L ordinates at 1 m intervals.

b. A two hinged parabolic arch of span 30m and rise 6m carries two point loads, each 60 CO 2
kN, acting at 22.5 m and 15 m from the right end respectively. Determine the
horizontal thrust, maximum positive and negative bending moment in the arch.

than the lowest point on the cable. Determine the length of the cable. If the horizontal
deck is located by UDL of 20 kN/m, find the tension in the cable.
