Philippine Copyright Law and UK Copyright Law

Philippine Copyright Law and UK Copyright Law are the same in the sense that they provide
protection on the rights of owners of artistic and literary expressions of ideas but not on the ideas
themselves. The said laws also provide exceptions for copyright wherein copyrighted works may be
used without the consent of the owner for criticism, news reporting, education, research and related
purposes.
The copyright laws in both countries differ in the duration of copyright. In the Philippines, copyright
lasts during the lifetime of the creator and for fifty years after his death. Meanwhile, UK Copyright
Law persists until seventy years after the death of the creator.
