Rehabilitation Engineering (Q)

1. The 4 profession they are biomedical engineering, Assistive Technologist, Rehabilitation

Engineer, and Rehabilitation Tehcnician. Their duty’s are about seven poin below :

• Assessing the individual needs of people with disabilities

• Designing and building custom-made equipment such as wheelchairs, robotic aids and
artificial limbs
• Testing the safety of existing rehabilitative equipment and assistive devices
• Collaborating with other members of the rehabilitation team, including occupational
therapists and physiotherapists
• Counseling users on how to use the equipment safely and appropriately
• Supervising rehabilitation technicians
• Conducting research on a range of rehabilitation engineering topics

2. Symptoms vary, depending on the type and cause of the issue. The most common paralysis
symptom is the loss of muscle function in one or more parts of the body. Other symptoms that
may accompany paralysis include:

• numbness or pain in the affected muscles

• muscle weakness
• visible signs of muscle loss (muscle atrophy)
• stiffness
• involuntary spasms or twitches

3.The Principle Seven: Size and Space for Approach and Use
Compared to the commonly used hinged doors, sliding doors take up less space to use
and construct. They are also easier to use and navigate for wheelchair-seated individuals. Less
back and forth maneuvering is needed when traversing a sliding door compared to the opening
and closing movements related to a hinged door.
4. Clinical rehabilitation engineering (RE) may be considered a subspecialty of biomedical
engineering . The main difference between clinical engineer and clinical rehabilitation engineer is
that a clinical engineer deals only with the medical equipment that can be found in a healthcare
setting (e.g., acute-care hospitals, sub-acute-care hospitals, rehabilitatio hospitals, or out-patient
clinics), with the patient as the focus of the medical model.
Conversely, a CRE deals only with rehabilitation technology, with the individual as the
focus, in any number of models and settings.
