C1 I think my city will be ranked as slow. I’ m living in the countryside and there are a lot of rice
fields. People walk around freely and slowly. We often see people who are talking along the road and
also people who are walking their dogs. Thus, I think the city which I live is a very slow pace city.

3 There is a great number of workers in cities which have strong economics and a lot of
industrialization. When we work, we have to be punctual. Thus, I think there are many people who
are strict with time and the pace of life will be faster. In addition, in cities like Tokyo, people depend
on trains and are pressed for time. I think it is one of the reasons which leads to a faster pace of life.

4 　 I think it will be interesting to measure the pace of life in each country. If we do that, we
probably can know different characteristics of each country. In addition, if we measure in a lot of
country, we can search cause-and-effect relation between the pace of life and geographical condition
such as temperature and climate. I think it will be interesting.

I would like to compare MacDonald’s and a local grocery store. At MacDonald’s, everything is
measured. For example, the time the customers spent to order, the waiting time and so on.
Everything has to be done fast. Thus, people walk fast and do the minimum necessary. In addition,
they care a lot about time and watch clocks for many times. On the contrary, a local grocery store is
different. There is no measurement and there is no need to be done fast. Sometimes we enjoy talking
and do not care about time. I think it is a difference between two stores.
