# ACADEMIC PROJECT

Title : A Version-aware Approach for Web Service Directory

Duration : 5 Month
Environment : .Net, WindowsXp
Project Description : With the emerging of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web
services are used frequently to build software applications in a loosely coupled manner. In
this project, we first defined versioning of Web services based on the compatibility analysis
of their changes. Then, we designed a version-aware service description model and a
version-aware service directory model to support version management in a service
directory.
In future work, we ought to investigate issues in the version management of non-backward
compatible changes in Web services: how to calculate or/and mediate the differences
between the different versions and how to dynamically adapt the client applications to
maintain continuous operation.
