ABSTRACT
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is responsible for more fatalities than the SARS
coronavirus, despite being in the initial stage of a global pandemic. The first suspected case in
Valencia City was of Barangay Captain Cabaluna of Lumbayao. He attended a cockfight derby
held in Davao City on March 2020 which is believed to be the reason why he got the virus on the
first place. His case is also the first in the entire province of Bukidnon. As of November 17,
2020; there is a total of 230 cases. 181 of which were able to recover and unfortunately 2 were
reported dead. 52.6% of the total number of infected people are female while the remaining
percentage are male. Most of the reported cases belong to the age group of 20-29-years-old
which is 35.6% of the total cases. This case report highlights several important clinical and
public health issues. Despite patients being young adults with no significant past medical history,
they had very different clinical courses, illustrating how COVID-19 can present with a wide
spectrum of disease.

INTRODUCTION
SARS-Cov-2, which is the main strain of coronavirus was discovered first in Wuhan,
China in December of last year. As of November 16, 2020, more than 54 million people are
infected globally and more than 1.3 million of the infected people died[CITATION Ste20 \l 1033 ].
The first identified case of coronavirus disease can be traced back to January 30 this year
to a 38-year-old Chinese woman. It is also noteworthy to mention that the first recorded death
due to coronavirus that happened outside of China happened in the Philippines. It was of a 44-
year-old man also from China[ CITATION Sab20 \l 1033 ].
By the 19th of November, there are almost 420 thousand cases of COVID-19 in the
Philippines. Almost 8 thousand of the confirmed cases died (University of the Philippines, 2020).
The Philippines is currently 2nd among all the countries in southeast Asia when it comes to the
number of positive COVID cases[ CITATION Orn20 \l 13321 ].

BODY
With the COVID-19 being almost everywhere, it is not surprising to also have it here in
Valencia, Bukidnon. The first reported case in Valencia City was of Barangay Captain Cabaluna
of Lumbayao. He attended a cockfight derby held in Davao City on March 2020 which is
believed to be the reason why he got the virus on the first place. His case is also the first in the
entire province of Bukidnon[ CITATION Lag20 \l 13321 ].
As of November 17, 2020; there is a total of 230 cases. 181 of which were able to recover
and unfortunately 2 were reported dead. 52.6% of the total number of infected people are female
while the remaining percentage are male. Most of the reported cases belong to the age group of
20-29-years-old which is 35.6% of the total cases. While the least infected age group is the 80+
age group with only one reported case (Gozalo’s, 2020).
CONCLUSION
The coronavirus disease  continues to spread across the world following a trajectory that
is difficult to predict. The health, humanitarian and socio-economic policies adopted by countries
will determine the speed and strength of the recovery. This case report highlights several
important clinical and public health issues. Despite patients being young adults with no
significant past medical history, they had very different clinical courses, illustrating how
COVID-19 can present with a wide spectrum of disease. As of November 17, 2020 the amount
of people who contracted COVID-19 in Valencia is 230 cases.
