OVERALL WORLDWIDE

A REPORT BY
Introduction
SciSports has generated an overview of the main competitions that are covered by SciSkill
worldwide and their strength. Their strength is represented using averages for a player in a team
that competes for the title in that league, a team that is mid-table in the league and a team that is
fighting against relegation. Important to note is that these are averages for those teams and
therefore not representing the highest or lowest values in a league or team. For the team
average, the best eleven in a team according to the SciSkill Score are taken into consideration.

Explanation SciSkill index

The SciSkill Score estimates a football player's current ability. Although represented as a single
number, the SciSkill Index encompasses three components, which are combined in a clever way
to enable fair and meaningful comparisons between players playing in different positions. The
offensive skill measures a player's contributions to a team's offensive performances, whereas the
defensive skill measures a player's contributions to a team's defensive performances.
Furthermore, the resistance factor represents the strength of the opposition a player typically
faces.

The SciSkill Potential estimates a football player's peak ability, which most players reach in their
late twenties or early thirties. Players in more defensive positions like goalkeepers and defenders
typically reach their peak abilities at a later age than players in more offensive positions like
midfielders and attackers. The SciSkill Potential is recomputed after each match as follows. For
each player, the SciSkill Index evolution until the current point in his career is compared to the
evolutions for all other players who have already reached their peak abilities until the same point
in their careers.

The SciSkill Development is the growth in a player's SciSkill score over the past six months. The
difference is the current absolute SciSkill score minus the absolute SciSkill six months ago.
