Prahlad Chaudhary, Project Coordinator, Chairperson


Qualification:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Mr. Chaudhary is having 25 years of work experience in various fields of hydropower industry.
He has worked as Design Engineer,Fabrication Engineer, Site Manager, Project Manager and
Plant Manager in various hydropower projects and plants. He has extensive experience in
repair and maintenance of Francis and Pelton turbines, design of hydraulic gates, stop-logs,
trashracks, penstock, and other hydromechanical and structural components of hydropower
projects. Apart from his long experience in contract management, construction
management and project management, he has also worked as Plant Manager and Project
Manager for several years.He is proposed as Project Coordinator for Detail Engineering
Design of Kasuwa Khola HPP.

Bijaya Lal Shrestha, Design Team Leader


Qualification:
Master of Science in Engineering with specialization in Hydropower and River Hydraulics
Mr. Bijaya Lal Shrestha has experience of more than 28 years in the field of Hydropower
development. He is involved in the designand construction of large projects of Nepal, such
as Upper Tamakoshi (456MW), Chilime (22MW), Rasuwagadhi (111MW), Sanjen (42.5MW),
Middle Bhotekhosh (101MW). He has been involved in the design of number of Hydropower
projects of Nepal developed by independent power producers such as Upper Chaku
(22MW), Mailung (5MW), Lohore(5MW), Ghatte (5MW), Super Mai (7.8MW), Mai Beni (11.2MW)
etc. He has been proposed to lead the design team of Detail Engineering Design Works of
Kasuwa Khola HPP as design team leader.

Yurika Shrestha, Sr. Hydropower Engineer


Qualification:
M.Sc. in Water Science and Engineering with Specialization in Hydraulic Engineering and River
Basin Development, IHE Delft,Netherlands.
Ms. Shrestha is working in the field of Hydropower for more than 10 years.She was involved in
various Hydropower development projects to carryout Desk study, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility,
Updating Feasibility Study, Detailed Engineering Survey & Design, Structure Design, Survey,
Estimating & Costing and Report & Contract Document preparation. She is involved in the
design of Solukhola (Dudhkoshi) (86 MW), Likhu 2 Hydroelectric Project (55 MW), Lower Hongu
Hydropower Project (23.5 MW), Inkhu Khola Hydropower Project (20 MW), Shankhuwa Khola
(29MW),Chepe Khola (8.63 MW) and Liping Khola (16.26 MW).

Niranjan Shrestha, Sr. Structural Engineer
Qualification: Masters of Structural Engineering, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, IOE, Pulchowk.
Mr. Shrestha has over 12 years of Work experience in the field structural design, construction
management, in government and non-government infrastructure projects in Nepal. He has
been carrying out structural design of hydropower components such as at intake, desanding
basin, anchor blocks, surge tank, powerhouse building, machine foundations, power
conduits, aqueducts and canals. He was involved in the structural design of Jhayari(2.8MW),
Dwari(4.2), Lohore(5MW), Ghatte(5MW), Madyuk Khola (13.9MW),Super Mai(7.8MW), Mai
Beni(11.2MW) and Sano Milti (3 MW). He is proposed to team member for the Structural Design
in the Detail Engineering Design of Kasuwa Khola HPP.

Bishnu Siwakoti, Sr. Engineering Geologist


Qualification: Masters of Science in Geology, TribhuvanUniversity,Tri Chandra College,2006.
Mr. Siwakoti has experience of more than 12 years in the field of Hydropower as geologist. He
is experienced in the geological studies of Hydropower projects. He has worked as senior
geologist for Siprin Khola Hydropower Project (10MW during construction phase and is
currently involved in Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project(111MW). He was involved during
design and site investigation of Pikhuwa Khola(2.5MW), Dwari Khola(3.4MW), Lohore
Khola(5MW), Ghatte Khola (5MW), Super Mai (7.8MW), Mai Beni (11.2), Lower Chameliya
(20MW) ect. He is involved in the site geophysical investigation, review of geophysical
investigation and their interpretation, geological design and analysis, preparation of
geological drawings and maps, construction methodology and quality control. He is
proposed to team member for the engineering geological works for the Detail Engineering
Design of Kasuwa Khola HPP.

Balkrishna Pangeni, Hydropower Engineer


Qualification: Bachlor in Civil Engineering , NIT Rourkela
Mr. Pangeni has experience of more than 8 years in the field of Hydropower development.
He is involved in the designand construction of Lohore(5MW), Ghatte (5MW), Super Mai
(7.8MW), Mai Beni (11.2MW), Sano Milti Khola (3MW), Lower Chameliya (20MW). He is involved
in the feasibility study of Super Inkhu and Upper Inkhu HPP. He has been proposed as
Hydropower Engineer for the Study team of Kasuwa Khola HPP.
Praveen Chaudhary, Hydropower Engineer
Qualification: Masters of Science in Water Resource Engineering, Bachlor of Civil
Engineering,IOE, Pulchowk.
Mr. Chaudhary has more than 4 years' experience in the field of professional engineering
services for development of hydropower projects in Nepal and performed in project
planning, design review, Field Investigation, Layout of Component Structures, Design of
Intake, Hydraulic and Stability of Analysis of Dam and Appurtenant Structures, Design of
Settling Basin, Optimization of Installed Capacity and Conveyance (Headrace Tunnel and
Pressure Shaft), Transient Analysis and Design of Pressure Shaft, Surge Analysis and Design of
Surge Tank, construction supervision with quality control works. He was involved in the
Feasibility study of Loti Karnali HPP (50 MW), Rupa - Gadh HPP (8.47 MW) ,Inkhu Khola (24.3
MW), Mathillo Inkhu (33.5 MW),Detail design drawings and report, revision of civil component
Likhu - 1 Hydropower Project (77 MW), Feasibility and detail design of Super Tamor HPP (155

Sourav Dulal, Hydropower Engineer


Qualification: Masters in Hydropower Engineering, IOE, Pulchowk.
Mr. Dulal has been working as Hydropower Engineer for 5 years. He was involved in the
hydraulic and structural design of hydropower components. He was involved in the design of
Ghatte(5MW) Super Mai(7.8),Mai Beni(11.2MW), Lower
Chameliya(20MW), Lower Dudhkunda (9.6 MW) and Rawa Khola (5.3 MW).
Nagendra Chaudhary, Sr. Electrical Engineer

3.52 MW Charnawati Khola Hydroelectric Project. The project is Located in Bhimeshowar Municipality, Ward No. 8, 9 and 11,
of Dolakha District, the project is a cascaded, run-of-river type with net head of 186 m and design discharge of 2.19m^3/s.
The annual generation of energy is 37.29 GWh.The largest gate is undersluice gate of size 3mx3m having 6m head on
sill.The diameter of penstock is 1580mm and its length is approximately 3020m
• Siprin Khola HEP, 10 MW; Dolakha, Nepal; Synergy Power Development Pvt. Ltd. (Project Cost: 1410 millions/HM
Cost 282 million). The project is a high head project and Siprin khola is a tributory of Upper Tamakoshi. It comprises of
headworks, around 1.3km long head race tunne and a very steep penstock of length 650m.The project is commissioned on
January 2013. The scope of work involves design detailing of gates and stoplogs, installation supervision; design of cable
crane, its installation supervision and testing and commissioning.
• Mailun Khola HEP (Project Cost: 900 million/HM Cost 140 million). The Mailun Khola HEP is being deveoped by Mailun
Jalvidhyut Company Pvt. Ltd, Gairidhara. The project is currently in construction phase and around 80% of the work has been
already completed.Radha Structure and Engineering Works is the Hydromechanical Contractor of the project. TAC hydro is
the nominated PDE subcontractor of the project on behalf of RSEW. We have completed all design works and the
construction supervision is ongoing.The largest gate structure is the undersluice gate of size 3mx3m with 5m head on sill.
• Upper Chaku “A” HEP 22MW (Project Cost: 3080 million/HM Cost 195 million). is a high head project being developed
by Shiva Shree Hydropower Co. Pvt. Ltd. In sindhupalchowk district. The design flow of the project is 3.58 cumecs with gross
head of 850m. The largest gate structure of the project is its undersluice gate (3mx3m) with head on sill 6m. TAC Hydro is the
HM consultant of the project in the design phase.
• Pikhuwa Khola HEP (2.5MW) (Project Cost: 550 million/HM Cost 110 million). is a project being developed by Eastern
Hyropower Company Pvt. Ltd. The project has design discharge of 2.8cumecs at Q65. However, to accomodate for future
possibility of upgrading, the headworks and waterway has been designed for design flow of 6.58cumecs .The largest gate
structure is its undersluice gate with an opening of 3mx3.5m.

gate is undersluice gate of size 6.5mx5.0m.The cost of the project is estimated to be NRs. 13,000 million and the estimate for
HM part is around 950 million NRs. The project is being developed by Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Limited (RGHPCL)
which is a subsidiary of Chilime Hydropower Company Limited (CHPCL) and was incorporated in August 2011 as a public
limited company. The job scope includes detail design of Hydraulic Gates and other structures for tender purpose and
coordination with international consultants.

• Andhikhola Hydropower Project (Upgrading), 10.4MW; Syangaja, Nepal;(Project Cost: 1000 millions/HM Cost 90
million). The Andhi Khola Hydropower Project (Upgrading) aims to rehabilitate and upgrade the existing Andhi Khola
Hydroelectric and Rural electrification Project to a size of 10.4 MW. The existing 5.1 MW project is a Winner of IHA-UNESCO
Blue Planet Prize in 2005. The existing project was built under the funding of United Mission to Nepal and Nepalese
Government and is in operation from 1991. The project was designed with a low installed capacity keeping in view the energy
demand of back then. But latter the necessity of upgrading was realised to its optimal capacity to meet country’s energy
demand. The project is located in Syangja District, Western Development Region of Nepal, about 300 km South-west of
Kathmandu. The job scope of the work covers the preparation of the detailed design, supervision of Fabrication works and
installation works for Hydromechanical works. The project comprises of an undersluice radial gate of WxH = 2.5mx3m

Mr. Thapa was involved in following projects as a mechanical engineer:
• Motorization and Imrpovization of Flushing Gates for Chilime HEP , 22.1 MW was commissioned on August 25, 2003
and located in Rasuwa district, 133 km north of capital city Kathmandu. It sales bulk electricity to NEA at the long term PPA
price. The annual energy generation from the plant is about 150 GWh. The flushing gates at desander needs to be operated
very frequently. The manual operation was very much tedious, hence the need to motorized these gates was identified by
the plant and the job was awarded to AEW. Mr. Thapa was involved in the improvisation of the gates and design of gate
hoists.
• Trash Rack and Trash rack Cleaner for Chilime HEP, 22.1 MW In the initial design there was no trash rack in the water
way. Therefore a lot of fine debris used to be collected in the desander. Hence the need of a fine trash rack was identified.
Further the cleaning mechanism was also required in order to prevent frequent choking of the fine rack. AEW was awarded
the work for design, fabrication and installation of fine rack and its automatic cleaning machine. Mr, Thapa was involved in
design and installation works.
• Trash Rack and Trash Rack Cleaner for Jhimrukh HEP, 12 MW . Jhimrukh Khola Hydropower Project is a run of the river
project in Pyuthan District owned by Butwal Power Company Limited which is in operation since 1994.Frequent choking of
trash rack at tunnel inlet was a serious problem in the power plant which was hampering the generation of the plant. Hence
the job for design, fabrication and installation of trash rack cleaning machine was awarded to AEW. Mr. Thapa was involved
in the design, fabrication and installation works.
• Design of Trash Rack Cleaner for Modi Khola HEP, 14.8MW. Since from the first year of operation, the project was
suffering from the problem of frequent choking of fine rack at side intake. The job was awarded to AEW for design,
fabrication and installation of Trash Rack cleaner.
• Feasibility Study of Jhayari Khola HEP , 1.5 MW. Electro Com and Research Center has awarded the job of feasibility
study of Jhayari Khola HEP. Mr. Thapa was involved in the design of Hydromechanical Works including gates, stoplogs and
trash racks. The project is currently under construction.

• Khudi Hydro Electric Project (4 MW) :( Project Cost 700 Million, HM Cost 145 Million). Khudi Hydropower Project is a
run-of-river small hydropower scheme with gross head of 103 m designed for an installed capacity of 4 MW with two
generating units. Headwork consist of boulder lined weir, intake, under sluice, approach canal, desilting basin and forebay.
Waterway consists of about 2.5 km long exposed steel penstock pipe of 1.75 m diameter from headworks to powerhouse
with Inverted Syphone across the Khudi River.
Mr. Thapa was involved in the fabrication works of the gates, penstock and expansion joints of this project and motorization
of gate hoisting system.
• Middle Marsyangdi Hydroelectric Project, 70MW: Lamjung; NEA/VA Tech/ Voith, (Project Cost: 35,000 millions/HM
Cost 1200 millions). The project is developed by NEA. VA Tech and Voiths are their main contractors of Hydraulic Steel
Structure which was subcontracted to NHE. The project is in operation currently.
Mr. Thapa was involved in the fabrication of radial gates ( 15m x 21m) and preparation of part drawings for CNC machine.
