ANS. I remember I was already very late to reach home after my classes
and I was about to reach but a minute before one car was crashed by
another car. Due to this incident I was more late to reach home and I could
A not do anything. The only thing I could do was wait until the traffic gets

ANS. My area has a lot of good features. I can start with the education
system. Some of the top colleges are located here like PICT, BVP,etc. Coming

Katraj milk parlour is also located here which is known from years.

ANS. I use a bike and as I can see, traffic has increased a lot as days passed.

Cognitive mapping is a study done to determine persons behavioral understanding and perspective towards the area .It
helps us to understand the point of view of their area of interaction.This assignment helped us to understand mental picture ,
layout ajd problems every indivisual of different age age group experience and image in their indivisual physical world. Behavioural
understanding of every age group vary from person to person and there are many factors like environment, education, society ,
mentality , nature and many more things which affect it.
By taking the interview of people with different age group i realised many things which we as a student often forget while
desiging any thing. Each age group has different attachment towards their area and experiences problems according to their age
and mental ability.
The interviewee were supposed to map the area in which they live i.e Katraj which is Pune , Maharashtra. Katraj lies in
south western part of Pune with many educational schools and institutes near by. Apart from Bharati vidyapeeth and PICT
institute it has many other important landmarks like the Katraj milk farm and Rajiv Gandi Zoological Park which which has
emotional connection with the people living in this area. Its quiet developed place with basic services around which a person
requires to reside in any place.Apart from these there are many problems which people around face and expects to be solved.
Different age group unstuck different problems and it’s the duty of designer to consider every aspect and work whil designing.
Age 12-18 is where children grow from concrete to logical thinking where emotional concerns matters.From this we see
that while creating map and explaining their experiences there are many emotional connections mentioned . Young adults from 19-
34 are hostly debated in development and social psycology and literature . Being more practical and organised there perspective ,
liking and dislinking towards their area often differ. Public and commercial spaces are prefered and often prefer practical amd
quick life with less problems.
 Group 35-60 lie in a complete different
transition with different beliefs and thought
process.Various adjustments and adaptions are made
and is a period of stress and strain.Lonliness and
sociability is observed and people of this age often
prefer interactive and religious places as there is
complete transition in their life style and they often try
to adapt the change by getting social .
Cognitive mapping helped us to understand
psycology and understanding of different age group.
Behavioural understanding , expectations , problems
faced vary in different age group and we as a student
should learn to consider and utilise all these learning
while designing so that whenever a place is designed it
connects differently to every indivisual as per their
mindset.
