Services: Little River Medical Center provides care for everyone. They offer

affordable healthcare for the whole family. They accept most insurances and

welcome families who are not insured. For those without insurance, LRMC staff

can assist patients with enrollment in a qualified health plan and their sliding fee

program.

Services: Selected prescription medications are provided free or low cost. Most

every day medications are free to families while others are as low as $7.50. This

benefits family members who are on every day medications such as children

with asthma.

Services: The Salvation Army Social Service programs help families in Horry

County with: food, financial counseling, utilities, assistance at Christmas with

food and toys. They will also help families with clothes and furniture in the event

of an emergency such as a fire or flood. Families who need help in any of these

areas can contact them to receive what they need.

families while they get back on their feet, look for a job, and find a place to live.

This is ideal for families who are low income and unable to find a place to live.

This can benefit all families who need it, hardships like losing a job or an

emergency can cost a family their home and this place is here to help.

Services: The Community Kitchen provides meals free of charge to all types of

families. They provide warm meals to children and adults and provide a chance

to sit down and talk to other families in similar situations.

Services: The Shepard’s Table provides dinner and occasional lunches to people

and families that can benefit from it. A hot, nutritious meal is served Monday –

Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30. p.m. A typical dinner consists of soup, bread, salad

or fruit, meat, rice or potatoes, vegetables, dessert and sweet tea, all at no

charge. During the cold winter weather, The Shepherd’s Table is open

temporarily for a light lunch of soup, bread, dessert and tea from noon –

1:00p.m.

Services: This is an art museum that has free admission for everyone. This is a

great weekend activity to take the family or kids to as a chance to be together

and enjoy. Everyone can benefit from this when they need to get out of the

house and find something to do. It is also indoors so it is good on a rainy day as

well. Families can learn about different types of art as well as the environment

and ways you can help it.

Services: The Socastee library has plenty of books families can check out and

return later for free. They also provide many free events for families such as book

readings, music for younger kids, movies, and other events. They also have a

play ground so families can meet up and bring children and allow them to play

Services: The Little River Medical Center is an outreach program that provides

resources for families in the community that may need assistance. They help

families and individuals find and apply for benefit programs that help provide

and pay for things like medications, insurance, health care, meals, housing, and

utilities. Most families can benefit from this as they all have different needs that

can be fulfilled in one program.

Services: Cancer Heroes of The Carolinas provides

support for families who have a child that is currently going through cancer or

has gone through it. They support families financially by providing gas and food

cards for when they must travel to the hospital. They help with rent when families

are no longer able to work due to taking care of their sick child. They help when

any financial hardship lands on families who have a child with cancer. They take

families to outings to have much needed family time. They support the siblings of

children with cancer. They help with Christmas when it is needed. They provide

childcare when other siblings are not able to be at the hospital. They provide a

support group for parent along with the children.
