Objective of Activity: TO EDUCATE THE BLIND STUDENTS THROGH AUDIO CLIPS.

Description of Activity In this activity, our basic aim was to provide education on
(Minimum 150 words)
at least a fundamental level to the visually disabled
children, We made audio clips of the chapters taken from
the NCERT syllabus, so the quality of education for the

visually impaired as well as the normal children is the
same. Each individual was assigned 8 chapters, and we
tried our level best to explain them through descriptions,
questions. The activity UMANG is an initiative taken by
us in our gp course in which we aim at recording audios of
books for blind students. I was asked to explain the
chapters efficiently with examples and without any
interruptions from background noise so that the children
could easily understand the topic and complete the
activities mentioned in the chapters. I also explained the
and also gave a little information about the branch of
knowledge concerned with the production, consumption,
and transfer of wealth. which truly are interesting and
those which are full of fun, fantasy to know.

used to record them every weekend. At first I found it was
hard to speak for long durations of time but eventually
with breaks in between I was able to record them all. I
recorded them over two months. Each recording is part
reading and part explanation. I have described in
economic theories, applied research, factors of production,
role of markets, and role of government in the general
study of economics. the lessons to the best of my ability. I
submitted them to my coordinator for evaluation.

Benefits to Society: Our education system takes care of education for the blind

till 8th standard very well. Though after 8th due to
increasing difficulty of the coursework, there is little
provision to educate these students. In this activity the text

books (NCERT) of all subjects from standard 8th to 12th
were recorded. Along with this, the explanations were also
recorded. This activity will help willing students learn. It
is to make them independent regarding learning. These
recordings may turn out to be changing point in someone’s
life. Students with willingness to learn can have easy and
free access to their textbooks. This activity will also help
students with normal eyesight with studying when they
can &read, like when traveling in a vehicle where it
difficult to read. This activity is very helpful to blind
students who wish to learn, but Cannot read any books.
Not all blind students can afford special tuitions to prepare
for the board exams ,this activity provides them audio
clips from which they could learn and graduate.

Benefits to Self: Social work is about assisting those who need it most.
(Minimum 150 words)
Everyone, including those from difficult circumstances,
deserves to live a fulfilling life and to have someone on
their side willing to fight for them. Social workers fill that
role, making a difference on multiple levels. Lasting,
significant change usually starts close to home, and
requires collaboration between the individual and
community level, a skill social workers develop through
their education and field experience. This activity was an
eye-opener. I started thinking more along the lines of new
ways to help others. First thing that comes to our mind
when we think of social work, is helping the extreme
needy, fighting poverty, assisting in hospitals, donating.
But it skips our mind that their are other simpler ways to
do this that immensely help a person. This activity gave
me a platform, without which I wouldn’t have ventured
into this. This activity helped me to improve my
presentation/ explanation skills. I learned how to explain
certain knowledge to others. I also learned to admire the
efforts blind students have to take To study.

Learning, I also started exploring the current audio books. While
Experiences,
recording these videos, I learned how to use audio clips
Challenges, that you
would like to share: editing tools. The first time I tried to record, it didn’t start
(Minimum 150 words) out smoothly, there was too much background noise and
kept making too many mistakes. I learnt that reading the
whole lesson at once and then starting to record it doesn’t
work. Instead it’s better to read a single paragraph at a
time and then prepare and record it. In this way I avoided
recording irrelevant lines like, ‘ ...as you see in the
figure...’ Explaining diagrams and graphs was a bit of a
challenge. Also the long only informative chapters of
economics posed some trouble. Because the information
could get really monotonous and boring to listen to but at
the same time is quite essential. But altogether this was an
immensely satisfying activity. Explaining certain topics
which cannot be visualized by blind students was
challenging, I had to imagine the every topic from
perspective of blind students and then explain them about
the topics. I had very good experience from this activity
thanks to co-ordinators who organized this very skillfully.

Suggestions, if any, to We can help them through audios and more beneficial is
make the activity more go to blind school and tech them over there because they
effective (optional)
catch the subject easily and doubts can also be cleared.
