crepitus

Raised extended leg

Touch the thumb to the base of the small


fingers

Move extended leg away from the midline

Repeat against resistance

Inspection and Palpation of the hips

Lie in prone and lift extended leg off the


table
Inspection and Palpation of the Knees,
feet and the ankle Palpate the tibiofemoral space
- You can inspect the knees while
patient is sitting and the knees
dangling or on standing position

Start palpation 10 cm above the patella

If there is an Effusion, measure and


compare quadriceps circumference
Test ROM Inspection and Palpation of the ankles
and feet

Point out and Point in toes

Bend each knee up

Then repeat maneuvers against


resistance

Test for pain and injury

Palpate for tenderness, heat, swelling or


nodules

Assess the metatarsophalangeal joints

Rotate medially
Plantar area
