I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the one-hour period (60-minute period), the student should be able to:
(KNOWLEDGE): 1. identify the parts of a circle
(SKILLS): 2. illustrate a circle and the terms related to it: center, radius, diameter,
chord, secant and tangent
.(ATTITUDE): 3. develop the value of determination in acquiring the skill
A. Topic: The Circle and Its Parts or the Terms Related To It.
III. PROCEDURE
“It’s nice to hear that! Before anything else, (Students follow what their teacher requested
(Everyone is praying.)
“Thank you_________. Before you may take
B. Motivation (5 minutes)
“This morning we will discuss another lesson
“BRING ME”?
The instruction is you will bring the objects
Objects to bring:
Botton
Coins (Students provide the objects)
Circular bracelets
Round strip of paper
Circular plate
Cover of Circular food
container or any container
Water bottle cap
definitions of a circle.
In other words, a circle is the set of all points
A
Sabino: I can see a point located at the center
of the circle.
Okay, there is a point at the center of the circle,
Next is the radius. What is a radius? Students: A radius is a line segment joining

Very good Cadiz!
Yes Rhea?

If we write C and D at the endpoints of the C
diameter then we have segment CD as the
diameter of circle A. Let’s say, the radius of
circle A is 4 cm how long is the diameter of
the circle? Yes Regilyn?
Very good!
Regilyn: The diameter is 8 cm Sir.
The next part of a circle is chord. What is
a chord?

Very Good Liddell. The point where a D
tangent line touches or intersects the circle
is called the point of tangency.

Okay time is up. May I call on the Geneisa: Our Group’s answer is
Very Good. All groups did it correctly. Let’s (Students do the applause.)
give everyone a “YES” applause for a job
well done.
G. Abstraction/Generalization
(3 minutes)
So, who will give now the recap of the things Keith: As a recap, a circle is the set of all points
that we have discussed today? in a plane that are the same distance from a
fixed point called the center. The parts of a
circle are center or central point, radius,
diameter, chord, secant and tangent.
Excellent Keith! The point where a tangent
related to a circle?
Are you now ready for a test? Students: Yes, Sir.
IV. ASSESSMENT (10 minutes)
On a 1/4 piece of paper, draw a circle with a center B, with two diameters namely,
segments AC, and DF, whose chords are AC, DF, CF, and DG, a secant HI, and
tangent JK intersecting A. (By pair)
V. ASSIGNMENT (2 minutes)
Study in advance about central angle, inscribed angle, and arcs of a circle.
