1. OBJECTIVE: - To lay down the procedure for breakdown and preventive maintenance.
2. SCOPE: - The SOP shall be applicable for equipment, machinery and facility breakdown.
4. PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION:

4.2 Production head will depute the technician/operator to attend the PRD.

4.3 Switch Off the power supply of the machine and display a PRD.

4.5 Discuss the incidence of breakdown with the operator to PRD. HEAD
understand the details.
4.6 Carefully inspect the machine and check the cause of OPERATOR Breakdown

4.7 After identifying the cause, if any parts/assemblies of the PRD. HEAD
machine are to be dismantled, mark them properly for
identification.
4.8 Keep the dismantled parts of the machine in the proper tray and PRD. HEAD
clean thoroughly.
4.9 After the repairs, assemble the parts, check the assemblies for PRD. HEAD
smooth operations and then assemble them on the machine.
4.10 Lubricate the parts wherever lubrication is required, as per the PRD. HEAD
lubricant recommended by the machine manufacturer/ supplier
manual.
4.11 After satisfactory repairs of breakdown, set-up approval to be PRD. HEAD
don.
4.12 Record this information in the machine history card. PRD. HEAD Machine
History card
4.13 Breakdown / Repairs shall be reviewed on the basis of
preventive maintenance schedules / activities. PRD. HEAD
4.14 If any type of changes done during production it recorded as per Breakdown
4M change matrix and its record should be recorded in PRD. HEAD register
Breakdown register.
4.15 Pareto to be made to find out the top breakdown contributing to
the production loss. Detailed Analysis shall be conducted for the
top 2 breakdowns in a month and for repetitive breakdown.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:
4.15 Head of Production will make out a Preventive Maintenance
Schedule covering all equipment’s. This schedule will give PRD. HEAD PREVENTIV
Monthly and Half Yearly Schedule as required. E MAINT.

4.16 Maintenance schedule shall be drawn on the basis of

4.17 Preventive maintenance should be done on monthly basis as on

4.18 Maintenance should be done by respective operator of the
machine.
While carrying out the Preventive maintenance, ensure that
following steps are taken PRD. HEAD
4.19 Switch Off the power supply of the machine and put a board on
machine stating “UNDER MAINTENANCE”.
4.20 Operator should clearly inspect the machine to understand the
problem or defects in machine if any
4.21 Operator should carryout Preventive maintenance with
Maintenance department as per the WI on preventive Preventive

4.22 Record the observation in preventive maintenance sheet and
verify by concern department.
4.23 If Any Non conformity arises then Corrective and Preventive
action should be taken as per. CAPA/8D
4.24 Record this information in the machine history card. Spare part
list should be updated if used
