Statement of the Problem

The study intends to determine the perceived efficacy on feeding program of

barangay Malanday by selected mothers as basis for promoting anti-malnutrition

program. More specifically, this research will seek to answer following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.2 Number of Children

1.3 Monthly Income

1.4 Educational Attainment

2. What is the efficacy of the feeding program of Barangay Malanday as perceived by

selected mothers in terms of:

2.1 Assessment

2.2 Implementation

2.3 Outcome

3. Is there any significant relationship between the anti-malnutrition problem and feeding

program of Barangay Malanday?

5. What strategies can be formulated to enhance the feeding program in Brgy. Malanday?

Chapter 2

METHOD
This chapter will present the methodology of the study by which the researchers’

activities were undertaken. This will include the research design, respondents of the

study, the research instruments, data gathering procedure and statistical treatment of data.

Research Design

In this study, the researchers will utilize descriptive method to describe

the nature of a study, mainly gather accurate and pertinent information through survey

questionnaires, which describes the Perceived Efficacy on Feeding Program of Barangay

Malanday by selected mothers: Basis for promoting anti-malnutrition program.

According to Polit and Hungler (1999), Descriptive method describes what exist

and can uncover new facts and meanings. The purpose of this design is to observe,

describe, and document aspects of a situation as it naturally occurs.

In order to fulfil the objectives of this study, the researchers will also use

quantitative method. Quantitative methods emphasize objective measurements and

the statistical, mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls,

questionnaires, and surveys, or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data

using computational techniques. Quantitative research focuses on gathering numerical

data and generalizing it across groups of people or to explain a particular phenomenon

(Babbie & Mujis, 2010). This design is an excellent way of finalizing results and proving

or disproving a hypothesis (Shuttleworth, 2008).

Respondents of the Study and Sampling Technique

The respondents of this are the selected mothers the Barangay Malanday,

Marikina City. The total of the population in Malanday is 55,442. The researcher will use

the quota and convenience strategy to get the total.

Sampling was the strategic use of the researcher in collecting data from the total

population of the subset carries equal opportunity of being chosen as apportion of the

testing preparation

Research Instruments

The research team adapted the survey questionnaire in Likert Scale to gather data

for the study. The developed questions in the survey are in lined with the statement of the

problem that the researchers have formulated. Survey questionnaires were prepared for

the purpose of collecting, classifying, and gathering information. The survey

questionnaire will be used in the study to attain the profile of the participant and the

efficacy of the feeding program of barangay Malanday as perceived by the selected

mothers. Gathering Data through a survey questionnaire will help the researchers to

justify the aim of the study.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researcher arranged a letter to ask permission to conduct an interview and

facilitation of the questionnaires. The research team made to utilize of type written

questionnaires that were given to the respondent in spite of the fact that individual

conveyance. The survey questions were facilitated exclusively by the researcher. The

collected data was arranged with the help of statistician and were translated by the

researcher instantly.

The researchers will undertake a survey procedure to fifty (50) selected

respondents of barangay Malanday, Marikina City. The researchers properly distributed

the questionnaires to their selected respondents. Lastly, the researchers will gather the

questionnaires from respondents to tabulate, analyze and interpret the data.

Statistical Tools

The data that will be used with the study will be required and analyzed with the

help of the measuring tool. The researcher used the survey questionnaire to the chosen

respondent. The following are the statistical tools with their corresponding formulas that

were utilized in this study.

Percentage and frequency

This statistical tool was used to determine the respondents based on their

demographic profile, which consist of age, number of children, monthly income and

educational attainment. The percentage were computed using the formula:

Mean

This statistical tool was utilized to established the scores of the leading factors

affecting malnutrition in barangay Malanday as well as the efficacy of the feeding

program of barangay Malanday. The weighted mean were computed using the

formula:

Likert Scale

Likert scale is a psychometric scale commonly involved in research that employs

questionnaire and was name after Rensis Likert. It was use by the researcher to scale the

response in survey questionnaire.
