 The activity of buying or selling of production
online serves or over the internet.
 E-commerce enables you to buy and sell
products on a global scale, twenty-four hours
a day without incurring the same overheads
as you would with running a store.

SIX TYPES OF E-COMMERCE
1. Business To Business (B2B)
 Occurs when a transaction is made
between two businesses
 Successful B2B businesses includes
companies such as Hubspot who offer
inbound marketing and sales software
and Xero who provides accounting
software for small to medium
businesses.
 Any company whose customers are
other businesses operate on a B2b
model.
2. Business To Consumer (B2C)
 Sells products to consumers
 Online retail (including drop shipping)
usually works on a business to
consumer model.
 Transactions happen between
businesses and consumers. In B2C
ecommerce, businesses are the ones
selling products or services to end-
users (i.e. consumers)
3. Consumer To Consumer (C2c)
 Occurs when consumer sells directly
to consumers
 C2C e-commerce happens when
something is sold between two
consumers.
4. Consumer To Business (C2B)
 Consumer to business model is
slightly less common in ecommerce.
This materializes when a consumer
sells or contributes money to a
company.
 Companies using crowdsourcing or a
kick start campaign to fund their
business would fall under the bracket
 A consumer sells of contributes
monetary value to a business
 Business that sell eco-friendly water
filters is one example of a company
that is engaged in C2B e-commerce
5. Business To Administration (B2A)
 Type of e-commerce that happens
when transactions are carried out
online between companies and public
administration.
 This area tends to involve a variety of
services such as social security,
employment, and legal documentation.
6. Consumer To Administration (C2a)
 Involves all transactions between
individual people and public
administration.
 A few examples of this would be:
o Education – publishing and
circulating information, distance
learning tax
o Tax – return forms and payments
o eHealth – payments to health
services and appointments
OTHER
1. Government To Business (G2B)
 Takes place when a company pays
for government goods, services, or
fees online
 Examples could be a business
paying for taxes using the internet
2. Business To Government (B2G)
 When the government entity uses
the internet to purchase goods, or
services from a business, the
transaction may fall under B2G e-
commerce
3. Consumer To Government (C2G)
 People paying for traffic tickets or
paying for their car registration
renewals online may fall under this
category.
