Preferred Risk Policy Extension Eligibility

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Flood Insurance

Program (NFIP) has implemented a new Preferred Risk Policy (PRP) flood
insurance option that may provide temporary financial relief to property owners affected by recent flood map
changes in their community. Starting October 1, 2010, the Write Your Own companies and the NFIP Servicing Agent
will begin notifying certain policyholders of their potential eligibility for this extension. As a result, many
policyholders may turn to local floodplain managers for assistance in documenting the location of their buildings. As
a floodplain manager, your assistance in not only fulfilling the requests for current and prior flood map
documentation, but also providing residents with information will help them better understand the new policy option
and whether or not they are eligible.

Please see a list of materials to assist you in these efforts.

The Indiana Map

IndianaMap.org is the public source for map data in Indiana. It includes the information people need most in a
format that is accessible to both the general public and expert geographic information systems (GIS) users.

The IndianaMap is a portfolio of projects that involve the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local partners.
The purpose of these efforts is to acquire, improve, and deliver a wide variety of Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) data for Indiana.
