Speech 101 - In a discussion that I recently had with the speech teacher at my school, we
ESL Department discussed what he was doing in order to assess students and gather useful
data given the fact that many of them were not on campus in order to
conduct the speeches that generally serve as his assessment tools. He noted
that utilizing a variety of ed tech tools (podcast / video creation tools) he
has been able to expand the skills that his students leave his class with, as

well as providing himself with a better means of collecting data. While prior
to the pandemic he would simply assess students based upon a speech that
occurred live in front of class, by utilizing various edtech tools in order to
accomplish the same goal, he has been able to view student speeches more
than once and as such provide deeper feedback in regards to their work.
- In a discussion with the ESL department chair we addressed how many of
our international students are fearful of taking assessments as they are not
sure what to expect. In order to alleviate the stress in regards to test taking
she suggested a variety of different online assessment tools that aid
students in becoming familiar with the way that assessment is carried out.

Analysis and Summary of Audience Assessment
Directions: Record assessment data into Assessment Data Table (see end of document). Include copies of assessment tool with submission. Include at least one graph in your summary.

In order to analyze audience satisfaction, I created a google forms assessment that asked my audience members to reflect on my TLP
presentation. The questions I asked my participants ranged from how valuable they found the information presented to what the
likelihood was that they would implement one of the tools presented on in their own classroom. Through conducting this assessment,
I received data (both positive and constructive) that will drive future professional development sessions that I have the opportunity to
lead throughout my career.
