The Utilization of Ash Extract of Randu Fruit Skin and Garlic As Bioanticeptic Soap Environmentally Friendly
Abstract
The randu husk ash can be processed into solid extracts which apparently contain
26.28% NaOH compounds, 23.11% K2CO3 compounds and Na2CO3 compounds 0.910%
(Aprillyani SM, 2013). The compound content of the randu rind extract is very potential as an
ingredient for making liquid soap. Garlic milled into fine powder and then dissolved in sterile
distilled water and squeezed to get a solution of garlic with a concentration of 50%, 25% and
12.5%, has antibacterial activity with inhibition of 13.78 mm for S. aureus , 9 mm against E.
coli, 7.25 against S. typhimurium and 9.1 mm against P. aeruginosa. Garlic powder
effectively inhibits S. aureus Gram positive bacteria, and Gram negative bacteria E. coli, S.
typhimurium and P. aeruginosa (Sri Suryatmiati Prihandani, et al, 2015). The two
ingredients, namely the extract of randu rind and garlic when combined combine to produce
environmentally friendly liquid bioantiseptic soap products
The purpose of this research is to make liquid bioantiseptic soap products that are
environmentally friendly from extracts of randu skin and garlic as well as to determine its
effectiveness as an anti-bacterial Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichiacoli. The results of
testing the antibacterial effectiveness of liquid bioantiseptic soap extracts from the skin of
randu and garlic on the addition 40% garlic filtrate to be effective in inhibiting 9.9 mm the
growth of E. coli bacteria and 10,2 mm affecting the growth of S. Aureus. The weight of
liquid bioantiseptic soap types ranges from 0.92 - 1.016 g/ml which has a pH of about 9.6 -
10.1, an average foam height of 2.1 - 3.5 cm with a soft soap texture, light brown and
jasmine.
