4. FIRST AID MEASURES


DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AIR MEASURES
If swallowed Symptoms: Stomach nausea. Immediately give the victim drink water
(two glasses at the most). Check with your doctor immediately.

If eye contact Symptoms: Grittiness, irritation, redness. Gently brush product off
face. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical
aid.

MOST IMPORTANT SYMPTOMS AND EFFECT, BOTH ACCUTE AND DELAYED


Acute exposure can cause irritation to the eyes when exposed to splashes.

INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Advice for non-emergency personnel: Use protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contact.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Avoid the release of material that experiences thermal decomposition. If the material is released to
the environment, it should be thoroughly cleaned up using excavation, collection using vacuum
and/or wash down.

METHODS FOR CLEANING UP


Control source of release if possible to do so safely. Clean up spilled material immediately observing
precautions in Section 8, Personal Protection. Material should be cleaned up using methods that will
minimize dust generation (water spray may be used cautiously to wet down the coal before removal).
Return uncontaminated spilled material to the process if possible. Place contaminated material in
suitable containers for later recovery or disposal. Treat or dispose of waste material in accordance
with all local, state/provincial, and national requirements.

HANDLING
Advices for safe handling: Observe label precautions. Avoid contact with eye during spillage and
vapor inhalation (irritation of the respiratory tract).

Hygiene measures: Immediately change contaminated clothing. Apply preventive skin protection.
Wash hands and face after working with substance.

Preventing fire and explotions: Perform all handling in the well-ventilated area. Avoid overheating
the product in order to minimize the generation of vapours.

STORAGE
Store in a dry and well-ventilated area. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Store at
temperatures below 50 OC. Keep out of reach of children. Store away from incompatible materials as
listed in section 10.

Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.
