Definition of Terms

The following terms are conceptually and operationally

defined for a clearer understanding of the ideas presented in

this study.

    Doctor – a holder of a diploma of the highest degree from a

university qualified as a specialist in a particular field of

knowledge. (Medical Dictionary)

    In this study, “Doctor” referred to a person or a

professional doctor employed at Capiz Emmanuel Hospital.

Modern Medicine –is defined by tremendous advances in the

understanding of human health and the ability to moderate the

course of chronic diseases, correct disabling physical

conditions, and cure molecular deficiencies (Juhn, 2007).

In this study, “Modern Medicine” refers to the medicines

used by the elders and their effectiveness in curing illnesses or

injuries.

Perspective - the capacity to view things in their true

relations or relative importance. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

In this study, “Perspective” refers to the point of view of

professional doctors’ in the beliefs of elders on modern

medicine.
