QUESTION BANK

Q1. What is the smallest natural number by which 3645 must be divided so that the quotient
becomes a perfect cube? Find the number and its cube root.
Sol: 3645 = 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 5
Therefore 3645 must be divided by 5 to make it a perfect cube.
3
Thus the number is 3645÷ 5 = 729 and √729 = 9.

Q2. Find the smallest number by which 675 must be multiplied to obtain a perfect cube. Find the
number and its cube root.
Sol: 675 = 5 x 5 x 3 x 3 x 3
Therefore 675 must be multiplied by 5 to make it a perfect cube.
3
Thus the number is 675 x 5 = 3375 and √3375 = 15

Q3. Rishabh makes a cuboid of sides 9 cm  6 cm  8 cm. How many such cuboids will he
need to form a cube?
Sol: 3 x 3 x 3 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2
Therefore 4 such cuboids are required to form a cube.

Q4. Find the cube of the following:

(i) 2.1 = 9.261
(ii) 0.007 = 0.000000343

Q5. Find the cube root of 3652264.

3652264 = 11 x 11 x 11 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 2 x 2 x 2
3
Thus √3652264 = 11 x 7 x 2 = 154
