CHAPTER 3

TECHNICAL STUDY

Technical study is the complete study of the project in terms of input, processes, output,

fields, programs, and procedures. This study focused on the main point of the proposed business

as well as the process of business transaction. It also discussed the service schedule of the

drivers. Plant size and layout and structures are all presented for the purpose of identifying the

business operation. Registration process for commuter and driver was presented using flow chart.

The list of equipment, furniture and fixtures, tools and office supplies are also cited.

Objectives of the study

The technical feasibility aims to achieve the following:

1. To determine the input process and flow of activities in the service.

2. To know the service schedule of the proposed business.

3. To identify the cost of equipment, furniture and fixtures, tools, and office supplies to be

used in the operation of the proposed business.

4. To identify the location of the business.

5. To determine the needed utilities of the business.

6. To offer the waste disposal of the business.

Description/Uses of the service

With the fast development of businesses and tourism facilities in Lucena City, congestion

and commuting can sometimes be a problem. This is where Grabtaxi can help, the app is proven

to be a convenient and efficient way of getting a commuting transportation. According to

Grabtaxi 2017, the company utilizes simple, cost effective mobile-based technology in both

supply and demand. It can give easier access to commuters, short waiting time, reliability,

comfort, or safety as well as nice and clean transportation. Commuters will no longer

experienced being rejected by other commuting transportation and Grabtaxi is one of the fastest

ways to get to desired destination.


Through the app and just few finger taps, Grabtaxi provides passengers with easy access

to find a commuting transportation that is nearest to them in real time. No more standing outside

in the middle of the heat, waving their hands in the air until they can hail transportation or

guessing what time a taxi will arrive. Since one of many benefits of using the app are sharing the

ride location, knowing the drivers name, plate number, phone number, and the estimated fare

beforehand, to a certain degree the passengers feel more secure and less anxious when riding

with Grabtaxi.

Grab encourage a code of conduct for all driver so all drivers would have a clear

understanding of the ethics and compliance because Grab maintains zero-tolerance policy,

offense can result in termination of user access to Grab platform. To make sure that passengers

have a pleasant ride, Grabtaxi applies feedback, in which drivers who get compliant and are rated

unsatisfactorily by passengers regarding their service, manner and car condition may face

penalties, suspensions and bans.

Service process

The proposed business is service in nature. To produce service, this will require the

participation of the User/ Commuter, system (specifically Grab Application) and the driver to

complete the process. Before the transaction between commuters and driver begin, they both

need to register to Grab App for commuters/user and GrabDriver App for driver. Figure 1 and 2

shows the registration process for the commuter and driver.

In this figure, using the Grab App, the customer will fill up the registration form provided

on the application. This step will require some personal information of the user. Then the system

will send greeting and verification email. After the email is verify. The user will be successfully

registered and can already use the grab car app.

Figure 10 shows the process of registration for driver. This time the driver will use the

GrabDriver App which is downloadable in play store. The registration for driver is almost the

same as commuters. The only difference is that it requires additional requirements.

Service Schedule

Grab operation will be 24-hour transport service. This will help those who needs essential

services during late hours. To provide 24-hour service, the operation will split in to two shifts.

The day shift ( from 7:00am-7:00pm) and night shift (from 7:00 pm- 7:00 am)

Project Location

Grab will require an estimated area of at least 3000 square meters. Which will be

use for parking purposes and establishment of its office. Since there are numerous numbers of

car, large area for parking and open space for movements are needed.

The site of the business for parking and its office will be at Barangay Calumpang

Tayabas City. The business will occupy 3000 square meters of Lot 156. This area is suited for

the business since it provides huge space. Also, the location is more convenient because it is

nearly the center of the target market of the study, which is Lucban,Candelaria, Sariaya, Lucena,

Pagbilao and Tayabas.

The following are some of the important parts of the site:


A. Security Area

Facility which is for working groups focused on security protocols of the

business.

B. Car Wash Area

A place where cars are cleaned so it can be presentable to the customers and it is

also a way to protect the value and maintain appearance of the asset of the business.

C. Parking Area

It is a parking space for the cars.

D. Storage Room

It is the room for the proper storage of the tools and equipment as well as cleaning

materials of the cars.

E. Waiting Area and Restroom for Drivers

A place where drivers can rest if there is no customer and a restroom for the

members of the company.

F. Auto Lift Area

It is an area where automobiles are hoisted above the floor to give better access to

the car when fixing it.

G. Office

A room reserved for the manager, accounting staff, and other employee in the

business.

telecommunication which is provided by PLDT Company. The total estimated cost of utilities is

Php 73,200.

WASTE DISPOSAL

Lucena City local government unit have been trying to comply with the law that requires

establishing sanitary landfills. In compliance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act

of 2000 (Republic Act No. 9003), GrabTaxi will cooperate and follow the proper waste disposal

to maintain the cleanliness of the business. Waste management and disposal are necessary to

have clean, workable, and suitable place for relaxation. The packaging is biodegradable and

made up of paper bags and boxes. It will ensure proper waste segregation by separation of

biodegradable and non-biodegradable to prevent unwanted contamination. Daily trash will be

collected once every two days by the City’s garbage truck. The waste will be collected by the

garbage collector per schedule. The maintenance staff is the overall in charge in maintaining

cleanliness of the building.
