Truck Frame and Suspension

Section I Truck Frame of HOWO


Truck frame of HOWO Series is made of high strength alloy metal (ZQS500L), and its structure is
the 1000mm front part is wider than the 850mm rear one. Double drive-axle of HOWO-09 series
truck all equipped with cast beam, and the principle of its frame choice is as follow:

◇ Basic model of front suspension of HOWO series truck, shown as the front figure, is
vertical steel plate spring, telescopic shock absorber, and stabilizer bar.

◇ Vertical steel plate spring, made of spring sheet with different length, is fixed to the front
shaft by U-shaped bolt. Front trunnion connects with the truck frame through bracket pin
and front bracket to form fixedly hinged support, and rear trunnion, connected with truck
frame through trunnion pin, lug and lug bracket, can freely swing to ensure the distance
between the centerline of two trunnions can be varied with the spring deforming.

★ Required tightening torque of U-bolt of front spring is M=260±26N.m.

★ NS-07 New Balance Suspension is mainly composed by elastic module (plate spring,
rubber bracket, u-bolt and nut, spring pressing plate), V-shaped thrust rod, thrust rod
bracket, balance shaft assembly with shaft case, stop block, rear stabilizer and others.

★ Tightening Torque Requirement of Key Parts:


Connected Parts Required Torque

Bolt connected V-shaped rod with its bracket M=450~500N.m


Bolt connected V-shaped rod with axle M=460±46N.m
Bolt connected under thrust rod with its bracket M=425±43N.m
M18 bolt:M=470±47 N.m
Tightening torque of rear U-bolt M24 bolt:M=550-600N.m;
M26/M27 bolt:M=650-700N.m
Clamped bolt of rear plate spring M=390±39N.m
Center bolt of rear plate spring M=160-195N.m
Notice:
1. When modification, try to design longitudinal rod at sub-frame directly upon the balance
shaft.
2. When modification, the using bolt shall try to avoid spring pressing plate, spring clamp,
rubber bracket and other movement components for not interference. If can’t avoid, the
bolt head shall be outside and the nut inside.
3. The position of logitudinal rod of sub-frame shall be accordance with the position of
longitudinal one on the frame. It shall be obligated space for dismantle and assemble
V-shaped rod in the place between sub-frame and longitudinal rod of middle and rear axle.
4. Try not to configure longitudinal rod upon the air chamber of rear axle for meeting the
jump space of rear drive axle.

III. Suspension Improvement of HOWO-09 Series


1. Front suspension improvement
• A few spring sheets can be chosen.
• Fixed method of front stabilizer rod can be improved.
• Installation of front shock absorber can be changed (lower supporting point of absorber of
single front shaft truck at the upside of plate spring; lower supporting point of absorber of
double front shaft truck still on the axle).
• Integration of plate spring variety.
2. Rear suspension improvement
• Technical improvement of V-shaped thrust rod assembly (front and rear ball pins adopt
centripetal joint bearing structure, which not only overcomes the problems of lower
strength, not turning agility and difficulty installation and others of previous thrust rod, but
also increases the anti-wearing, avoids inner loose and impacted load enlargement due to
previous POM damange, and then promotes the use life of V-shaped rod).
• Four U-bolt structures can be used in the heavy duty tractor.
• HUV rubber suspension will be recommendered for standard load.
• RS850 rubber suspension will be recommendered for over-heavy load truck.
• Deadweight of vehicle will be decreased 450kg after rubber suspension application.
