JOB SHEET 1.

1-1
Title: Design a lay-out of a Fixed Power Supply

Performance Objective: Given a set of schematic diagram of a

power supply (half wave, full wave and center
tap), you should be able to design a layout for
each supply in accordance with the industrial
standard.

Supplies/Materials : electronic components symbols, paper and pen

Equipment : Drafting Tools

Introduction:

A power supply is an electronic device that supplies electric

energy to an electrical load. The primary function of a power supply is to
convert one form of electrical energy to another and, as a result, power
supplies are sometimes referred to as electric power converters. In this
activity you will design a PCB layout of the given schematic with the
following parameters:

Procedure:

1. Before you start designing your PCB, it’s a good idea to make a

schematic of your circuit. The schematic will serve as a blueprint
for laying out the traces and placing the components on the PCB.

2. First identify the component that is needed in the design.

3. Design must be fit in 2” x 3” PCB board.

4. Initially take the measurement of each component in millimeters

before designing. See example:

5. Using your drafting tools design a lay-out for each schematic
diagram.

6. In your design consider the parameter given.

7. Finalize your work for printing quality.
