The lesson will begin with the following questions:
Engagement
What is subtraction?
How do we know when to subtract?
Do we know any games where we subtract? (monopoly, center games)

Today we are going to play a game with Subtraction. If you get the answer
right, you get to keep my card. If you don’t you have to return my card. The
person with the most cards at the end, will be the winner.

Play game.
Engagement Informal assessment based on oral answers of subtraction problems.
Assessment

Exploration Today you are going to make your own game that uses subtraction. Think of
games you have played before and how you can change it up to be a
subtraction game. You will need to make your game on a google slide so that it
can be played virtually. I will work around to answer any questions and help
guide you in your game making process.

Exploration Informal assessment, observation of game making.

Okay students, now we are going to pick a few problems from each game

Class will answer some subtraction questions in their notebook.

Now I will need the maker of the game to have all of their problems solved
before others can play. This should be done on a separate slide to have an
answer key.
