Filipino is important to the grand narrative of Philippine history.
1. Bolstered the nationalist sentiment of the Filipinos The Acta de la Proclamacion de la
Independencia del Pueblo Filipino bolstered the nationalist sentiments amongst the Filipinos
which prior to which identified to their respective ethnic groups (Kapampagan, Tagalog,
Negrense, etc). The proclamation of independence inspired the Filipinos to fight against the
Spanish, and shortly after the Yanqui imperialists.
2. A step towards nationhood. No longer does the Filipino identify with his own ethnic group but
he now identifies as a Filipino, this is a critical step toward nation building. With the
proclamation of independence comes the establishment of the apparatuses of the state, such as

the three branches of the government, a critical criterion when judging a country as a cohesive
nation.

3. Served as an inspiration for future political upheavals in the Philippines. The Philippine

declaration of independence serves as an inspiration for the Filipino politicians in the Philippine

commonwealth to strive for independence from the Americans. This will also serve as an

inspiration from insurgent forces such as the NPA, who draws inspiration from the revolution,
and misguidedly fights for their beliefs through armed struggle. Whatever the case may be, the
