“LIGTAS COVID CENTER: Not Secured In Keep A COVID-19 Free Community”

I. Introduction
The province of Aklan and its 16 towns have put up their respective Ligtas COVID Center
(LCC) as part of each local government’s efforts to strengthen their response against the
coronavirus pandemic.

The LCC is a community-managed facility within a barangay, municipality, city or

province which aims to streamline the identification, admission, and management of
contacts, suspected, probable, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 with mild symptoms who
are not vulnerable persons, in households and communities.

Also, as a preparation for the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the community-
managed facility could help decongest hospitals as each local government unit is
empowered to deal with mild Covid-19 cases.

Based on the report of the Provincial Health Office here, all of the established and
identified Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for COVID-19 cases centers of the
LGUs were certified and had undergone assessment and capacity enhancement based on
the Provincial Assessment Tool for Ligtas COVID Center.
