The Importance of 24 Dravyas Used in Abhishekam

Abhishekam is performed to deities to absolve the devotee of his sins and take him closer to the
divine. Ego, jealousy, and pride are surrendered at the feet of the divine and the atma is opened for
spiritual advancement.

Abhishekams involving 24 dravyas are considered very auspicious and each of the dravyas have a

Note: Keep this in mind while doing Shiva Linga Abhishekam:

The BAEL leaves used in pooja should be of 3 leaflets even if one of the leaves gets

detached of three leaves then it is of no use.

Milk, curd or Panchamrit should never be poured in utensil made of Bronze, as this is

equal to wine
Fingers should not be put in water, milk and ghee etc., because the touching of nails

makes these things inauspicious.

AVOID – Ketaki flower and Chempaka flower

Abhishekam water done To Shiva Lingam should not poured in Tulasi tree-pot, it is a

SIN.
