• Injection/Sampling equipment
• Bacterial sampling probes

Hollow Plug - used in conjunction with:
• Electrical Resistance probes
• Linear Polarization probes
• Galvanic and Hydrogen probes
When combined with the Caproco access fitting,
the Caproco plug facilitates accessing the operating
system under full operating conditions (up to 6,000
psi / 41.4 Mpa), thereby eliminating the need to shut
down in order to obtain vital corrosion data.
HOLLOW PLUG ASSEMBLY
The standard Hollow Plug Assembly consists of:
• Hollow Plug Body
• Primary Packing
• Hollow Plug Packing Retaining Nut
• Probe Packing
• Hollow Plug Seal Nut
• Pipe Plug
The hollow plug packing retaining nut holds the Hollow Plug
primary packing in position to allow for a primary seal

SOLID PLUG ASSEMBLY

The standard Solid Plug assembly consists of:
• Solid Plug Body
• O-ring
• Probe Packing
• Packing Retaining Nut
• Pipe Plug
The packing retaining nut keeps the primary
packing in position and ensures that a sound seal is
achieved when a corrosion monitoring device is not
attached to the solid plug.
The O-ring provides a secondary seal and
protects the bore threads from unnecessary exposure
to the system's fluid.
Like the Caproco hollow plug, the threads on the
solid plug which mate with the access fitting body are
right-handed, while the threads at its base are left-
handed. This arrangement of right and left-handed Solid Plug
threads has a tendency to screw the monitoring
device or retaining nut to the solid plug during the
extraction process, which ensures that the functional
parts of the monitoring device are not lost during this
operation.

ACCESS FITTING FLAREWELD-
INCONEL 625 ASTM B564 N06625

The Caproco high pressure access fitting assembly provides access to systems under full
operating conditions (up to 3600 psi). The access fitting bodies in conjunction with either the solid or
hollow plugs are the key items of the Caproco High Pressure access system. With the use of a
Caproco retriever and service valve, placement, removal and maintenance of a variety of
equipment (eg. coupon holders, electrical resistance probes, etc.), to monitor the corrosive conditions in
pipelines. Vessels and other equipment can be accomplished with ease.
ACCESS FITTING BODY (non-tee) - Figure 1
Access fitting bodies are available in five main body shapes:

1) Flareweld 2) Buttweld 3) Socketweld 4) NPT 5) Flanged

The Caproco Inconel Access Fitting is manufactured from extremely corrosion resistant
ASTM B564 N06625 material to be used on pipeline/ vessel’s constructed with compatible
materials.

Protective Covers
GENERAL

Caproco offers a range of protective covers

designed to protect the exposed threads on access
fittings from mechanical damage, dust, dirt and
moisture.
Several types of covers are available: Heavy
Duty, Heavy Duty Pressure Containing and Dust.
Within these categories are a variety of design
options to satisfy any field application.
HEAVY DUTY COVER
The heavy duty cover is threaded internally to
mate with the access fitting body. The heavy
construction of the cover provides protection from Heavy Duty Steel Cover
mechanical damage to the access fitting Acme (without hole)
threads. Heavy duty covers are available in both
steel and molded glass-filled neoprene. The glass- HEAVY DUTY PRESSURE CONTAINING COVER
filled neoprene cover withstands extreme atmospheric Pressure-containing covers come equipped with
conditions, is resistant to all hydrocarbons, has a a bleed valve and/or pressure gauge. They are
coefficient of expansion similar to steel, and has an designed as a secondary safety containment in the
operating temperature range from -40 NF (-40 NC) to event that a seal in the fitting should develop a leak.
250 NF (121 NC). The gauge indicates the presence of any pressure
build-up, which the valve can be used to purge prior
to removing the cover.

Heavy Duty Neoprene Cover

(Without hole)
DUST COVER
Dust covers are available in both aluminum and
stainless steel. These covers slip over the Acme
threads and protect the access fitting from dust and
dirt. The stainless steel cover provides more
Heavy Duty Steel Pressure
protection from mechanical damage than the
Cover with Bleed Valve aluminum cover.
