Task:
Choose one of the topics from option A or option B. (Highlight your choice).
You should conduct your research using the skills, knowledge and understanding from the course (This is
reflected in your marking rubric).
As part of your research you need to use all of these, web sites, textbooks, books, encyclopaedias and
documentaries. These sources must be recorded accurately in your bibliography.
Option A:
The experiences of Australians during World War II:
• Prisoners of war (POWs)
• Kokoda - explaining the significance of Kokoda as the battle that halted the Japanese advance on
Port Moresby and helped foster the Anzac legend
• Fall of Singapore
At a minimum combine any of the three from below.
• The bombing of Darwin
• The Japanese submarine attack on Sydney
• The Cowra breakout
• The ‘Battle of Brisbane’
Option B:
The impact of World War II, with a particular emphasis on the Australian home front, including the
• Changing roles of women
• Use of wartime government controls
o conscription
o manpower controls
o rationing
o censorship

Construct a vocabulary sheet identifying historical terms and concepts as you study your topic

Use a range of methods to select, collect, record and organise your research notes
Properly constructed bibliography - Use appropriate ethical protocols and acknowledging other
people's information that you have used.
You must apply the CRAAP TEST to FOUR different sources you are using in your research.
Gain information from a range of primary and secondary sources and use it as evidence to answer
inquiry questions.
Use the primary and secondary source analysis sheet to deconstruct your sources, examine
sources to compare different points of view.
Annotate the sources. How useful are these sources. What was their origin and purpose?
Develop a comprehensive mind map on your topic. (You should be able to see the answer to your
topic in your mind map!)
• On each item of written work print your name on the top right hand corner.
• All electronic work put your name, assessment name and teachers name in the footer.
• Present all electronic work in a folder clearly labelled with your name and the task details on it.
